For those of you who may have not read the small snippets about my girlfriend’s bun, here it is as condensed as I get (which isn’t much).

My GF has an adorable 2 year old rex mix named Georgie B. Fluff.  She spoiled the rabbit rotten.  She fed it such things as chips and cake, let it pee and poop wherever and so on.  About a month ago, Georgie developed GI Stasis.  We caught it really early and thanks to Dr. Harvey, she got better.  The GF has since stopped feeding her bad food and only approved bunny diet items.  She says the hardest thing was looking at Georgie begging for her favorite food when they ordered it.  Yes, the bun was fed pizza.

In addition, Georgie wasn’t spayed.  An X-ray revealed a mass around her uterus so we scheduled the surgery.  The GF is quite upset as she really wanted to have baby bunnies (she knows about all the strays but she really wanted the cute, tiny, still feeding with mommy buns).  The surgery was Friday and everything went swimmingly.  The mass turned out to be a large ‘fat pad’ – which the doctor kept for me to see – and she really didn’t have to do that.

In addition, it seems we didn’t clear up all of the ickyness from the GI Stasis so Dr. Harvey prescribed some more meds.  Today, Georgie was finally let out of her pen (she’s usually a free roam bun but had to be confined after surgery) and she is doing great.  She’s hoppin around, re-exploring everything and is apparently quite funny as the meds make her a little ‘loopy’.

From this point out, I see a very long and happy life for Georgie B. Fluff.

I just couldn’t let him have it tho. was hard but good health won out. wins every time. once he ran over and grabbed a few crumbs of chips and I moved the bowl from him. all that grease and salt and a little bitty bun not a good match at all.

Yay for you for convincing her to get Georgie spayed and I’m happy to hear she is on the mend too.

Yup, I posted about the chicken breast. It really freaked me out, not because it was all internal organy but because it looked like it was a third the size of the bun. It weighed less than a quarter of a pound though.

Yeah, my GF always gave into the begging. “She’s so happy!” she said. She’s not a bad mom, has the right intentions, just the wrong delivery. I knew that a GI Stasis was in her future so I just kept an eye on the bun. It took over a year but when she had trouble pooping one day, I told her to keep an eye on Georgie. The next day we went to the vets.

Sometimes you got to treat it like some diabetics. They don’t really take their diet seriously until they wake up in a hospital with a tube down their throat helping them breathe.

i know what you mean.  a lot of people do that with dogs too.  feed them scraps because they’ll hoover down just about anything & love you lots for it.  i know this personally since my dog thinks the bun is his personal pez dispenser    but in the end it’s bad for them too.  not only disease-wise, but also weight management-wise.  now if i could only apply the same reasoning to myself.  haha. (see BB weight loss support thread )
