awe moving finally got the housing I been waiting for. in a nice quiet area and the buns one will have tthe living room the other the kitchen if it is the layout I am thinking. these are new housing and I am hoping the poop and pee war does not last long ahaa. and I love big bathrooms and the houses I looked at b4 had a bathroom you can turn around and not run into yourself I am just going to love that.

I am not sure if I should move the buns last or first off they will be with me whereever I will be sleeping. I am wondering which will be less stressful on them anyone have any ideas how to handle this for this is my first time moving with the buns. I have an idea they will be stressed maybe if I move them last and when we arrive in our new place they will smell the familiar things from here and settle in easier then if I just bring them alone while things are coming in n out and getting settled in. here they will be moving things out that will stress them too.

and I hear cotton behind that doggone couch again. I thought I blocked it off. grrr. the 3rd time I chase ihim out from back there I can hear him scratching behind the couch. oh well maybe let him play there and see about it later. ho hum that silly bun I will be excited that laith will have a bigger play area. he will like that. when he plays in cottons area cotton will pee outside his cage I finally figured it out. takes a while for us bunny parents to catch on I better go see about cotton he is making funny shuffling noises back there

i would suggest that you move first because moving usually cause alot of noise and dust etc. which will be more of a stress whereas if you already have everything sorted before they go then they will react better, also they wont see you as stressed because most things will be done so they wont get your negative vibes!

I moved several times in and out of apartments with Spockie, and even drove us from Massachusetts to Florida over 3 days. I’ve moved both ways – bringing him first and bringing him last.

The best move was the one where I had the keys to the empty, carpeted apt. and went over with my sleeping bag before the furniture was due to arrive the next day. One room was his, (actually it was the only spot without carpeting) so I just brought all of his supplies, his cage, food, toys, and set it up first. I was able to close the door to that room while all the other things came in the next day. He heard the noise, but it wasn’t particularly disturbing since he was tucked into his familiar house.

The cute part was having him in the empty livingroom with me. He raced from one end to the other, doing binkies! He didn’t have any furniture to hide under, or block his run and it was like a great field. In case I was worried that he wouldn’t adjust, he made it very clear that he favored the move.

Even when I would bring him last, I always designated my spot for his house ahead of time, or if it was in the open, I temporarily had him stay in a room with a door. He would inspect the new space, but as long as his stuff was exactly the same within his cage, and I was there, he was fine. A few extra treats that night, or as a distraction at the height of the moving noise never hurts.

By the way, the best moving advice I’ve gotten for humans is to designate one room for order and peace to retreat to. ie, make a bedroom, or a guest room, or a den (bunny’s room?) without ANY boxes, with clear chairs, bed or couch, a light, maybe the TV. It’s where you get away from unpacking to rest quietly without jumping up to unpack "just one more thing."

congrats on getting your new house – that’s wonderful!

moving for me is extraordinarily stressful, in fact we hired movers this time so I wouldn’t kill my husband. we are very lucky to have some bunny friends who took our kids for 2 days during the craziness of the move. I think when their people are super stressed the bunnies feel it too – so we dropped them off the night before and had time to get their new space all set up before we picked them up to bring them home. I missed them for the 2 days, but it worked really well for all of us. I’m not sure if staying at a friend’s for a day or two might be an option for you. And yes, it’s pretty likely to have some territorial marking when you first move it, hopefully it will calm down within a few weeks.

bunnies sure are sneaky about getting into places they want to be aren’t they?!
