What is a good website that tells you what to do if your bunny gets sick?

Most of the sites I have read tell you symptoms and also taking them to the vet, which I know is important.

I am starting the emergency pack and just want to know if my bunny gets GI Statis or anything else, what can I can do at home and to help her and how much dosage etc?

          Hi Lisa!

Here is a good article for GI stasis: http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/ileus.html

As for symptoms and what to do, as I’ve come across things I’ve written them down on recipe cards and kept in a recipe box with my emergency kit.

I do use this page from the HRS that links to articles (much like Charky & Ash’s web site – second link listed):

          http://www.rabbit.org/health/index.html

          http://homepage.mac.com/mattocks/morfz/rabrefs.html

Of course we’re here too on Binky Bunny, but with the difference in hours and the immediate need to take action, it’s great you’re doing this! Great job Lisa!

What you also may want to do if you have time is go over each link to a specif illness and make recipe cards to keep on file.  Booting up a computer and looking things up doesn’t help in a panic and time can be of the essence.

These are good info sheets too:

Thanks Scarlet, I have just printed out some info and laminated it and I will keep it on file.

I just have to start buying some stuff for my kit, I can get critical care at the rabbit savvy vet not far from home and the other items will be easy to get.

I just completed my emergency kit, thanks to all the great advice on here. One thing I found helpful was to put a label on each item with its intended use and dosage. Frr example, on the simethicone, I put:

              Use: Relieve Gas
Signs: Sitting hunched, teeth grinding, distended stomach
              Dosage: 1cc

That way, I don’t have to rush around looking for info, and I would hope it would make it easier for any bunny sitter, too.

Cadbury that’s a great idea! I think I’m going to re-vamp stuff and do that too!
