Please update us!
Hi!
They are all great and all survived 🙂 Six to be exact with some lovely markings! They are nice and big with full bellies and mum seems to be doing a fantastic job. I keep getting calls from my nine year old cousin whose rabbits they actually are. I can’t be mean and ignore her but they know I’m not giving them to them. She is actually very well educated and surprised me last night with how much she knew about rabbits (shame her parents can’t learn a lesson or two) and I just said I would let her know how they do. I’ve already put a post up on our UK rescue forum and will be putting up notices in local vets. I’m not advertising them in any free ad papers because I know what happens to most of them…. I’ll keep them until I find the right homes and won’t let them go until I’m certain they are going to be well looked after, neutered etc… I’ve got some pics just need to upload them which I’ll try and do later! Right now I need to go and pick my two boys up from the vets as they’ve been in for dentals…no doubt they’ll be feeling sorry for themselves! 🙂
what kind of rabbits are the parents? i’m very excited to see pics. you should do what Lisa did and if you can, post pics of the babies each week to see their growth. i know most of us will never be around really little baby rabbits, so it’s neat to see how our guys and gals might’ve looked as wee little ones!
Six? Wow! Is mom being a little more friendly? Yes I second Beka – want pictures although they may be hard to get. Good don’t give them back. Sounds like you have a good plan. Thanks for the update.
Hi…pics….
I’m still not handling the babies so they are pics from the nest, hope they are clear!
Mum is the lionhead x with the cool hairdo. Dad is the x breed who does have a little fluff but not as much as mum. He’s really sweet, nervous but very laid back and has some dwarf in him. He’s a lot smaller than mum with a rounder face.

I think there is some dutch in there somewhere along the line judging by the look of the two black and white ones, they have really unusual markings! The white strip down the face and band around the neck but then it breaks into the rest of the body and they have a couple of white spots!
I will keep posting pics as they grow, I think I’ll make a scrapbook. I know in one sense it’s really frustrating that this has happened and I personally would never choose to breed, but I may as well enjoy them as they grow up! I just hope I can find it in my to part with them
Cool! Are you planning on making a computer scarpbook or a real physical one?
Oh I meant a real one….I’m rubbish on computers he he….even though I’m an illustrator and had training on macs. I’m more traditional and avoid using computers if I can.
They are beautiful! I agree, the two darker ones look like they have partial dutch markings. The mom looks a lot like Marilyn, the mom I am fostering, except your mom has that cool long hair between her ears.
Oh they are so cute. The one baby looks like he/she is already posing for the camera! Good luck in trying to part with these precious darlings.
Oh great! I scrapbook (real scrapbooking) too!! You should scan and show us your pages when you are done them! I’d love to see them!
A scrapbook is an awesome idea. My kids are very craft-y, I bet they’d love to put something together about all of the bunnies that have been through our house on their way to their forever homes. My older daughter is quite good with computer based things like word and power point, she might have fun with it.
Oh adorable – how many babies are there?
A scrap book is a great idea! That would be so fun to have. I live right next to a “Hobby Lobby” and they have aisle after aisle of scrap booking items – I’ve been DYING to buy some…now you’ve given me a great idea! I’ll have to start scrap booking ASAP!
i definitely noticed dutch right away. it looks like one baby at least may look like a dutch. they are so sweet. i can’t wait to see more of them.
Hi!
The picture of the black and white bunny I took today, they others I took on Wednesday. You can see how much fur has already come through because their skin isn’t so pink anymore. She’s doing such a good job with them.
Sarita – there are six, very big babies actually! they are like little jumping beans if I look in the nest. I can’t wait until they are up and about. 🙂
Osprey – Yes I think they do look like Marilyn 🙂 Dad has more of the black around his eyes, mum has a lot of brown mixed in. I think that is a great idea to start a scrapbook of all the fosters you have. It’s a great reminder of the beginning of their new life. Your children must be so well educated and compassionate when it comes to animal welfare..that is such a nice trait to pass on to your children 🙂
Beka – yeah there are two that look virtually identical. I also noticed that one of the white ones has the bald patches on the flanks that comes with being a lionhead, so maybe he/she is going to be a little fluffy!
They are so cute, it brings back memories.
I have never seen a rabbit that looks like the dad, very unusual.
It’s amazing how fast they grow!
Dad is so sweet, he’s quite a small bunny really, probably no more than 2kg.
Charlie – I guess you better change your signature to “…or three…or four…or six…or eight….” !
i really hope that these babies (and mom and pop) can get a good home after this is all over with. they are very cute. are you socializing the dad more? is he getting neutered soon?
ha ha I think you may be right!! It brings the count to 14
me too. Dad was neutered two days after I began to look after them…so three weeks ago. I handle him everyday though he doesn’t like it! It’s mum who is more antisocial…she really lunged at me today, normally I just get a growl.
Well Charlie, maybe she is just cranky with hormones & feeding and protecting her babies. Give a lot of love and patience, hopefully after her spay she will settle down and you can really work on socializing her. I have a feeling though it is going to be a long road and plenty of time and patience will be in order. The babies I think will be much easier to socialize and you will be able to home them a little easier than mum & dad.
i’ve only just seen this thread. AGHHH! they’re gorgeous. You are SO lucky to have the leeeetle weeeeeny lumps of babyness. How amazing. I hope you and yours are all doing well. x
