Heres a neat, tidy and easy to clean water or food access tray without having to get inside the cage and keep removing the tray.

The hingable tray works on NIC cubes however it will work on pretty much anything you have built to house the bunnies.

First work out where you want the tray in you NIC.

Buy a water tray or similiar from your local supply shop.Size can be as big or small as you want.(see pic).

Next position the tray along side the NIC panel and work out how big you need to make the additional NIC hinge panel.(NOTE it needs to be bigger then the opening you are going to cut later).

You can see from the pic how big ours is by counting the number of squares.

Once you have your size take an old panel you might have lying around and cut the size.To do this I used a pair of side cutters to cut the metal bars. When you go to cut the larger outer bar I positioned the cutters around the outside of the bar and twisted it around , scoring the metal.

IMPORTANT: Do not cut the panel on the condo yet.

Once you have the hingable panel , take some cable ties and fasten it in postion. You can have it swing left or right.

Clip on the water tray or other suitable container to the hingable panel and move it towards the condo.Have a look where it makes contact with the condo and , using side cutters , cut the metal bars just enough to clear the tray and the hingable panel fully closes and makes contact against the condo.

Thats it!.Nice neat and easy to clean.

I use a bulldog clip to keep the door closed.

Any questions drop us a line.

        Greg

Those containers are from a dog carrier, I didn’t like them because they were not spill proof for transportation.

I haven’t used them in a long time and found them in my outside shed, so genius Greg found a way to use them.

I am excited I found more NIC cubes, we are heading out to get them now so I can bring mum back into the house and she will have her own condo. Queen Ebony LOL.

Um..You havent submitted your planning approval yet for it.LOL

You can pretty much find trays at most bird places, and i think they come in all different sizes and colors. So you can color coordinate your condo.

OMG – we have a bunny building expert on Binky Bunny – perhaps from now on we can call you the Condo Consultant. Are the side cutters you use to cut the panels like wire cutters? I’m still earning my way around the home improvement stores here – and I don’t have anything that cuts NIC cubes that well so I’d really like to buy some, just wondering what I’m looking for.

Thanks for the great idea! I think you could start selling bunny cages online in Australia – you’ve already got a market going You could be like the Leith Petwerks of Australia!

I don’t need a planning approval.  I want one just like yours!   Ticket’s not there?  Mmmm…no problem I’ll just have to go to Australia and pick it up and watch the finals of the Australian Open!

That is such a good idea.  We are in the process of making a condo for a shelter that we volunteer at.  I think we will do that for the food and water.  It will be easier for the volunteers when they feed and clean the cages.  Thanks.

that is very neat!  and it seems pretty easy to do… if a person can build a condo, they can probably figure that out!

                            Moo

To cut the wire i use a pair of side cutters shown in the pic below(The blue ones)

Cutting the small wire is a breeze but theres a trick to cutting the bigger outside wire.

First position the cutters on the larger diameter where you want to cut.(Dont cut it yet)

Holding the cutters with some pressure on the cutter, rotate it around the diameter of the wire, causing a scoring effect on the wire without actually cutting it.

Then take a larger pair of pliers, place it as shown in the picture and snap it with a downward motion.

Of course you could buy a pair of small bolt cutters but this is cheaper and quicker.

                            Hope this helps
