A story only other bunny lovers might find remotely interesting

I’ve had Annabelle and Stewart for about 4 months now. Stewart is the more social and entertaining bunny while Annabelle always has that ‘don’t touch me, you disgust me’ look about her.  Last night while I was hanging out with them Annabelle did something completely new! Stewart and I were chilling in one corner of the room when I noticed her head to one of the litter boxes. She came out with a scrap of newspaper (why oh why is the newspaper i put under their litter so FACINATING!). She then tore out of the room, with it. For the next few minutes she kept coming back in, looking at us, then leaving again. At one point I thought it might be stuck in her mouth. (I was surprised that she let me get close enough to take the paper without completely freaking out)  She immediately picked it back up, ran out of the room, then back in and jumped up to the top level of her condo where she spit of the paper and looked at us with a satisfied and not at all disapproving look.    Maybe she’s come up with a new game for herself??

I’m just so happy she’s showing a different side of her personality!! yay!!

he he sounds like your bunny was inviting you to play….

One of my old rabbits used to like me to play tag with her. I lived in a one level level cottage and she would run up to me and stare until I touched the carpet in front of her then she would run off and go mad all around the house, come back to me and start the whole thing again…she also liked to hide from me, I would go find her then she would promptly run away and hide somewhere else, this wasn’t like she was trying to get away from me, it was most definitely a game. I would then go and hide behind a door from her or something and she would come find me and vice versa. She was such a funny little thing!! don’t think she saw herself as a rabbit.

Yeah I’ve probably made myself sound like a right loon but I don’t care 🙂 I enjoyed playing with her, none of my other bunnies do it.

she does run away from me A LOT… maybe it’s less of an ‘i hate you’ thing and more of an invitation to play! I’ll try tonight with her and see how it goes. Stweart is more dominant and loves attention, so maybe I’ll spend some one-on-one time with her and see if she’ll play

i’ve heard that some buns like non-threatening chasing.  she might be one of them… the "chasing" being more like following tho.

My bun also likes to play the chase game. Twice, when I saw her get into her "Chase me!" posture, I stood still, held my hands out, wiggled my fingers and said "I’m going to get you!" She then binkied and ran away.

Oh, I should note that she sometimes initiates the chase game by grabbing a piece of paper (usually a bill) and runs away with it.

Anna wasn’t in the mood last night, but I’ll keep trying…

                      thanks for your comments everyone!
