Ok I need to know this and I need to know it NOW!!!! do bunnies have soft spots? If they do I need to know how long they have them for and is it normal for a 2 year old bunny to have a soft spot…the reason this is so urgent is because I dont want to kill my bunny by petting her on the head. I felt this wierd dent on her head and every time I pet there she does this weird thing.

        HELP!!! answers now people!! (PLEASE!!!!)

Hello there – well, my bunny’s heads do seem to have a bit of an indent right between their “eyebrows” so it is likely that is what you are feeling. However – can you describe what the “funny” thing is that your bunny does when you pet its forehead?

Yikes! I hope your bunny is ok

for those of you at work, I would  not advise Goggling "rabbit head soft spot" because at least that first page of results is NOT going to be about bunnies

              LOL

I know what you are talking about kralspace, I googled rabbit and it comes up with information on rabbits as well as the stuff you are talking about.

I also hope your bunny is ok.

OH MY!! heheh thanks kralspace heheh

I think we can help you better if you tell us what she does…

I really doubt you are going to hurt her by petting her…

The soft spot on babies heads has to do with brain development. The bones don’t fuse until later on to allow brain growth, instead there are several bones…I don’t think any other mammals have ‘soft spots’ except for some primates. I could be wrong though…

i’ve never heard of a rabbit having a soft spot on its head, but your bun might have a spot that she’s sensitive about having touched.  maybe an old injury spot?  have you had her since she was weaned or did you adopt her recently?  i’m also curious what exactly the ‘wierd thing’ you mention is all about… could you describe it?

                    LMAO @ Kralspace!!!

yup… i think we need more info.  tell us what you do and then what she does step by step.

just for future reference… on a forum like this, saying your bun does a "weird thing" doesn’t give us a whole lot to work with.  i know you’re young, so it’s a natural thing to just breeze over facts, but next time, when you have a question be sure to be a bit more descriptive so we can help you quicker.  i’ll be awaiting your response…

                      rofl Kralspace, that’s great.

yes – please let us know some more information – like what the weird thing is and where you’re feeling the dent, so we can better help answer your question

yes, I agree, a little more information from Mocha and much less from Google. I don’t think we’ll be seeing too many of those toys on the toy testing page here, I almost fell out of my chair laughing. My boss heard me and asked what was so funny and I just said ‘rabbits”.

Rabbits develop much too quickly to have a soft spot like baby humans do. What you could be feeling is an abscess? A soft bump that might bother her. If that is the case, see a vet.

If it really is only a dent, but doesn’t go into a soft cushy spot, just her bone, then you do have to explain what "weird thing" she does.

                          Helloworld!!

Every time I touch that spot on her head it looks like she is dead and sometimes she king of twitches a bit and then acts like shes dead.I dont really want to feel the spot to see if it goes down to her brian or bone because I dont want her to get hurt. The spot isn’t a bump it is a dent. I feel the dent right before the ears.

sounds very odd to me.  i’d have a vet take a look at it for sure since its very hard to tell from your description.   sometimes its really hard to describe things.  they say a picture speaks a thousand words & i would have suggested uploading a quick video to show us what you mean… but it sounds too scarey to keep doing.  best leave it for a vet to decide.  please let us know what they say.  good luck!

so is it a spot right in front of the ear or more like on her forehead between her ears? bunnies do have an indent directly in front on their ears, my guess is it’s part of the socket.

how do you mean she acts like she is dead? she doesn’t move? or she flops over?

I would also recommend getting her checked by a knowledgeable rabbit vet to see if there is something neurological going on.
