I don’t know if I am being paranoid or what…

But I noticed today that Smile has sneezed maybe 4 times. The first was a few hours ago, and it was just one sneeze…and then a few minutes ago I got her a bunch of hay, but there was little dusty bits that fell onto her face, so I’m sure she breathed some in, cuz right after she sneezed like, 3 times in a row…but instead of chomping away at her hay and flopped and is now sleeping.

I also noticed, on the floor of her cage, some dried, smooshed like a pancake poop. It’s possible she pooped outside her litterbox and then sat in it or something, because it didn’t look like diarrhea.

She is drinking, eating pellets, and hay, though…

Do they just sneeze like us sometimes?

I’ve noticed the occaisional sneeze from both my bunnies. When Kokanee had an upper-respiratory infection, which she has recovered from, she sneezed ALOT ALOT. I think a little sneezing is the same as in humans, just a little irritant getting out of the nose; As long as everything else seems ok,then you probably don’t need to worry!

Oh yes, just like us irritants in the environment can cause sneezing.

Maryann is a constant sneezer. She does it at least once every other day, and she does a series of them. It’s completely normal. And the smooched poop is just like you said, she smooshed it.

Ditto, Daffodil is a sneezer, she has allergies though they aren’t as bad now that she has sweet meadow hay. I try to shake out the hay to get out some of the dust and clean up the scrummies that are at the bottom of the hay basket and floor of the cage, it really seems to help along with a smaller air purfier by the cage.

i was having similar issues with Mead not long ago.  she was sneezing with greater frequency, but she was also shedding.  now that i’ve been grooming her more often, the hair is more controlled and her sneezes have reduced in number.  the main thing you want to watch for is discharge.  no discharge, things should be okay.

yes – I’d agree with Beka, it’s a cause for concern when you see any discharge or feel crust on the inside of her front paws.

It sounds like the hay dust went up her lil twitchy nose!

Spockie would often sneeze about 2 or 3 times in a row. I have allergies to dust and some grasses, so I switched to a litter that was less dusty, softer and cleaner. He seemed to love it and I felt better. He didn’t sneeze very often, but it’s possible for them to have allergies too. Sometimes it’s a brand of hay or even pellet dust from the bottom of the bag, which got into the scoop I would use to put it into his food dish. As the others said, just watch for other symptoms.

Pepper and I BOTH sneeze afte I vacuum and/or if the hay is particularly dusty.  Sometimes her nose feels a little damp afterwards, but no visible goop and no crusty paws.  It subsides in a couple of hours.

                            Hi, Gravehearted!

                            Thanks for the welcome.
I am really enjoying the Binkybunny forums. I miss my Spockie and am readying my apartment for a new furbaby soon. I have some work issues to settle first, but as soon as I can provide a good home I will get a new companion.

I miss those cute little sneezes!

Aren’t the sneezes cute? I have a bunny that I am super sure actually sneezes for attention. When we first adopted him the new apartment made him sneeze quite a bit, so every time that he sneezed, we would runnn over to make sure he was OK. So he learned that a sneeze gets him attention, so if I’m ever petting his girlfriend instead of him, and ignore his nose pokes, he’ll make this half sneeze noise to get attention!
