Ok, so on Friday at lunch time I went home and let both Acorn and Henri out of their cages. Matt was home so it wasn’t like they weren’t supervised or anything. Then when I got home from work, they were still doing great as usual so I decided to sleep on the couch and let them have the entire living room all night to see how it went. I figured that this would be less threatening to Henri then having both him and Acorn shut up in his cage.

Friday night went great so Saturday morning I even fed them both their pellets in Henri’s cage. I stayed home with them all day Saturday and things seemed to be going great. There is very little mounting behavior going on even anymore. I left things the same way Saturday night, they had free roam of the living room.

Sunday was pretty much like Saturday except for the fact that Acorn decided to be a little brat to Mercury. That’s a different issue though, I will create a thread about that in the behavior section. So last night I got brave and decided that I would pin them in for the night. So I set up the NIC cube pen that was downstairs around Acorn’s crate so that they would have Henri’s cage and plenty of space outside it. I slept on the couch again but there were no problems at all.

So what do you guys think? Are they bonded? I know that when they get neutered I am going to have to worry about their recovery time but I will work that out. I do have a few other questions though. How do I deal with feeding them different amounts of pellets? Both of them like hay more then pellets anyway so I am not sure that I will have to worry about it too much but if you have a bonded pair that are different sizes, how do you deal with feeding?

Well, actually it does sound pretty good! I would say if they aren’t bonded they are very close to it. As far as feeding them separately – I guess your only issue is the pellets so I suppose you could try separating them when you feed them – maybe other’s have ideas about this but I always just feed mine together and if they aren’t chow hounds about the pellets I don’t think I would worry.
