Just found a rather large scab on tommys shoulders, around the size of a penny or a little smaller. Where has that come from?? He was neutered a week ago, going in to the vets asap for a check – up anyway. Quite worried that I never noticed. It looks quite a healthy healed over kind of scab if that helps, and he recieves the best diet money can buy! Weird? I’ll try to get a photo for y’all. My poor baby! Hope he doesn’t have a skin condition. Is that common?

during my bunny’s check-up the vet checked her skin, specifically in that area, so i’m guessing that rabbits can develope a skin condition.  tho i can’t offer more insight than that for you.  sorry.  i’m sure some one else withmore rabbit health experience will know.  have you called your vet about it?

That’s really strange! It sounds like if it is healed over and scabby looking it can probably wait for the vet to look though! If it was seeping or anything like that, then their would be cause for concern….I wonder if your vet saw it and thought you knew about it, and it looked healthy so they didn’t mention it?

Wonder if it’s from the IV from his neuter although I think they usually put them in the front leg. I think if it’s healed over he should be fine but if you are going in anyway for a check-up just have the vet look at it to ease your peace of mind.

I too would have the vet check on that. It could just be a wound that is healing or mites can cause that as well. Since he just had his neuter I too wonder if it is from that.
