well – one of our foster moms picks a naming convention that seems to work well.
like the mom was Divinity and the babies were other confection related names – Butterscotch, Crackerjax, Neapolitan, Peanut, and for the life of me I can’t remember all the other names!
Others names she came up with for litters: were Snap, Crackle and Pop or also movie stars or singer like Marley & Hendrix. You could do herbs, cookies – the sky is the limit.
do you like descriptive names or real people names? i am partial to real people names… but i’m not a very good "namer". you could name them something describing each one…it is tough not knowing the sex. another idea… you could name each one a letter… and then when you find out the sex, rename them with the sex-appropriate corresponding name… so…
baby A might become either Annie or Auggie
baby B might become either Belle or Buddy
baby C might become either Cassie or Conner
et cetera… or whatever other names you liked, that’s just an example of what you could do. you could at least identify them by a letter for a little while.
You can do candy too like Skittles, Toffee, Twizzler, Gumdrop, Twix, Snickers…you get the idea :~) kind of like Graveheart’s confection names.
Also names like Mocha, Chai, Latte – those are good for both sexes.
Okay, I know these are all food-related names too :~)
You can also do things like Sunny, Snowy, Cloudy, Rainy, etc…
Let us know what you decide.
Zippy, Bungle, George, Geoffrey, Rod, Jane & Freddie (Everyone from brit 80’s kiddy programme “Rainbow”.) 😉
i like the movie star or singer idea too! make the buns famous!!!
I like both descriptive and real peoples names.
I like unusual names but easy to say.
So far I like a lot of the names on this thread.
I like cartoon character names (dino, gizmo, lilo, pebbles, astro, etc.)
candy (I had 2 dogs: Snickers and Resses, and my moms bunnies one was called pumkin)
movie stars are good too!
I like botanical names myself. : ) For the girls the more feminine like Lavender, Angelica, Chamomile, Rosemary and the boys herbs like Basil, Chive, Thyme etc. Names of flowers go more for girls than boys though. I’m partial to names of lilies for girls like Stargazer and tigerlily.
ScarletRose, too funny, we named almost all the puppies we fostered after flowers and I made a suggestion for "tigerlily" when we were thinking of names for Roxy!!
Any candy name works! Like Snickers, Twix, Almond Joy, Milky Way, Reeses, Choclate, ect.
I suppose Larry, Moe and Curley is out of the question? ![]()
I like completely made up names I’ve never heard before. Like my bunny Rucy which is combination of Ruthie, her original name, and Lucy, the name I was going to call her before Rucy kept slipping out of my mouth. (though to my amazement, I once googled the name Rucy, and it existed)
Yeah I think Larry, Moe and Curley are out, they might start poking each others eyes out and slapping each other lol.
cute thread lisa… have you picked any names yet? you could also choose from some action words that suit the buns like: hops, nibbles, peeps, graze, scoops, chomps, thumps… ![]()
Oooh I like made up names too! My three best friends all have made up names; Jaycee, Farron and Petrea!
I would suggest going with a theme-I’m partial to themes ![]()
I also like the names Zephyr or Zippy or Flash.
For spotted buns – Freckles or Sprinkles or Speckles or Dapples.
Winky is a cute name too.
Peepers! I just thought of it ![]()
LopsNLopsOfLove that is too funny!
Some names for both sex are Jamie,Pepper(s), Salt,Ziggy,Tiger,Thumper,Jackie,Bailey, Nicky,Acorn,Blizzard,Carmel,Chocolate,Cheesy, Butterscotch ect. (You can also go onto Google and search Rabbit Names) I hape this helps!!!
Personally I vote for real human names.
I know it’s really hard when you don’t know the sex of your bunnies, but hey I did the same thing just two months ago thinking I had a 50/50 chance of getting it right. LOL!!
I named my rescued bunny Giada thinking that he was a girl and then just three weeks ago his little "package" (as I like to refer to it) showed up. Uh-oh!! We have a boy!
Now since I’m a teacher of chidlren with special needs and my kiddo’s had already learned to love and call our bunny "Giada," we talked about changing his name, but in the end we decided that all that really mattered was how much our bunny was loved.
Can’t wait to hear what you finally decide to name them.
Good Luck!
Nikolla
I have some pictures under the heading of babies pictures haven’t they grown.
