Hi! I was wondering my dog just came over and sniffed Spinner. He was just playing, but Spinner started jumping and batting him. Is she just playing? She did grunt once, but that is it!

Is spinner spayed/neutered? It could be territorial warning or bunny defense to the dog to back off. Spinner may have felt threatened. Even though your dog may have meant no harm, Spinner would not know that. You have to watch them carefully, cause a rabbits moves can make a dog want to chase, pounce or pick them up and shake.

I don’t think she is spayed, and yes I was watching my dog very closley. Thanks!

Yep – that’s a feisty bunny-girl being annoyed and smacking an intruder.

Last summer Pepper met a lot of the neighbor’s dogs, either through the pen walls or on close leashes, and she does NOT like yappy ones!  One was bad enough, but the second – she hopped right up to him and started smacking him around.  He’s STILL afraid of her!

yes it sounds to me like she’s putting the doggy in his place and that she’s not going to put up with him bothering her.

it’s important to be very careful with dogs around rabbits. bunnies have very thin skin and could easily be injured by a dog who is only just playing.
