I just checked Stormy’s litterbox and there were tons of usual poos but like 5 really teeny tiny ones which were sort of covered in a bit of  weird mucous (these were not cecotropes). He is fine otherwise. Should I be worried??? Storm loves to make me worry I guess.

I’m no vet but I’d just keep an eye on him, make sure hes eating and pooping; Sometimes poops just fluctuate with how they are eating…

The mucous can be a serious sign something is wrong in the intestines (like mucoid enteropathy) . Save some of the fecal droppings and get him to a vet for an exam ASAP!

It’s hard to say. You might consider doing a fecal float if you are worried. I think I would ask my vet just to be safe – not sure exactly what you mean by the mucous-like substance – I’ve heard of the mucoid enteropathy but have not known anyone whose rabbit was diagnosed with it though or know much about it other than what I’ve read. Poo is such a weird and worrisome thing in rabbits :~)

Well I was out for a few hours and just got home and he had a ton of normal poops, no more weird ones. He ate all his snack and came out for a run so I guess I will just keep a close eye on his litter box for now. He sometimes gets poops that are all not all uniform in size but I don’t usually worry too much about them. Thanks for the info. I’m pretty sure he is okay but Ill post if I have any more concerns. Thanks.

Definately keep an eye out in the litterbox for any more of them.  You can always call the vet and see what they have to say.

I’d be very concerned as well, since it can be the sign of a serious problems. I’m glad to hear he’s pooping normally – but I’d recommend keeping a careful eye on his box for the next few days.

So Stormy’s poos are all normal today, except for a little string of pearls, but he gets these once in a blue moon. No more tiny poops though Hopefully it was just a one time thing.

The string of pearls are common when a bunny is shedding and ingesting a lot of fur, so it’s sounding like he is likely skirting around a gi problem.
I’d really encourage him to eat lots of hay, drink fresh water, offer papaya tablets and continue to watch his box and how well he’s eating.

I give dried papaya. Is that just as good as papaya tablets? No pet stores have them here.

Yes, the dried papaya should be fine.

I’m glad to hear the poops are good today – no one is as good at monitoring poops as a bunny mom Every once and awhile my bunny Raymond makes these territorial poops that are super stinky, and they have a bit of a shine or glossy look to them – is that what you saw previously?

Yeah my bf thinks I’m crazy cuz I’m always examining his litter box. Us bunny Mommas can be considered fecopheliacs I guess

Well his poops were a bit glossy but very small that’s why I was concerned.

I understand what you mean completely! I always examine my buns’ litterboxes. It’s the only way to tell if everything is “working”. I have two long-hair lionheads. When the shedding starts is when I get concerned. My husband thinks I’m weird too. On Kahlua’s third birthday, I took him to my husband and said he needed to give Kahlua his birthday kiss!

LittlePuffyTail, check out your local health food store for papaya tablets (try to find ones with no or very low sugar).  They’re usually in the digestion section with bromeleain, papain, peppermint tablets etc. Also, the chewable acidophilus with bifidus is usually in the same location in the store and my buns go crazy for the banana and blueberry ones by American Health.  They are given as a treat every other week and if one doesn’t seem to be feeling well tummy-wise.  While the acidophilus isn’t naturally a part of the bunny gut, for some reason it seems to help.
