my bunny has taken a new habit of venturing up on my couch.  she does this when hanging out with me & the dog in the living room when i’m at my computer (usually in the binky bunny forums ) and i think it’s to say "hey!  did you forget about me here?"

anyways… when she’s up on the couch she starts digging & nibbling.  so, being lazy, i thought i’d chase her off the couch by squirting her with a water bottle instead of getting up & shoo’ing her off.  this works well for the 70lb dog as he cringes when i *touch* the water bottle much less have to spray him.  but not Baby bun!  nope.  i practically soaked her backside before she even turned to notice!  silly goose.  this all upsets the dog immensly i might add.  not only is she up on the couch (he’s not allowed) BUT he sees the water bottle in action & cringes.

guess i have to get off my arse & move her off right?  rabbits are so cool

i keep a couple old throw pillows and a blanket i don’t care about on the couch, so when Meadow’s out, she can dig and chew on that… so far it works…  it’s too tempting for her to have all this fabric and nothing to dig or chew at…

also, giving her a blanket that she can chew at seems to protect the carpets a bit too…

That’s what we do too, there is an old blanket and a couple of pillows on our couches and the bunnies go up there and dig…AND I found the water bottle does not work at all on Kokanee (never tried on Kahlua) she just closed her eyes and kept chewing carpet! Stinker! What works was either clapping my hands and saying no, or I have a pepsi can with pennies in it that is taped, and I shake it…Very noisy usually works when combined with ‘no!”….

I do the hand clap too and say no. It usually works although sometimes Stormy will just look at me like “What are you gonna do?” and then continue being bad! He’s a little rebel!

                    oh the hand clap.

i’ve hurt my hand before clapping so hard… and it didn’t even make Meadow look up.  i’m thinking about making some kind of noisemaker instead… leave it on the desk.

yeah Baby doesn’t respond to claps either… or stern voices, or shouts.  i do think the pennies in a can thing might work though.  i’ll give this a try.  yesterday i left the living room to grab a glass of water, came back & she had peed & pooped on the couch   good thing i had an old sheet spread out.  that got *most* of it.  little bratina.

my bunnies don’t like the spray of the water, but i find clapping works the best too.

I just say no in Swedish and they stop instantly.  I used to have to clap and say it but now all I have to say is "nej."  If I say it in English it doesn’t even phase them and they carry on with the "selective hearing." LOL

ooo maybe I’ll try it  in swedish from now on to see if it makes a difference!

WATER BOTTLE. I say “Sophie no no no”. After two years of this I dno’t have to get past the first no. I would say “Sophie no no no” and then spray her body with the water bottle. Off she would run in the opposite direction of whatever naughtiness she was getting into. Now, she’s trained, like Pavlov’s dog, to think the word “No” means “water spray bottle incoming”. I say “Sophie no no no” and by the time i finish the first no, she knows she’s being naughty. I haven’t even used the water bottle in over 8 months. Now, the verbal command is enough.

Also, for furniture or carpet, i spray febreeze or perfume. The clean smell offends the bun’s sensitive noses and they won’t bite or dig at that area.

I have a spray bottle next to my bed, when my 3 cats all decide they want food at 5 am in the morning they get a squirt.

My wild child Scamper thinks disapline is a game. We have tried the water bottle thing, I think he thinks its a game, To see how many time he can get out of they way with out getting hit with water. It dosen’t really bother him anymore unless you hit him in the head which I don’t like doing.

We have tried the pennies in a bottle. It really upset Scamper for 5 to 10 mins at first cause all he do is thump his foot and run or hide in his cage. Now a days he runs away, then not even two mins later he back into trouble.

I still maintain that it’s much easier to "discipline" a rabbit if you can "talk" to them.  Go to the Language of Lagomorphs" in the link section, and then behave like a dominant rabbit.  I got Pepper to stop nipping in less than a week using the info on that site.  You just need to put it to them in terms they understand.
