OKay, so now Connor is offically an indoor bunny.  He is no longer living on the back porch but instead in my son’s room.  The only problem is he is NOT litter box trained.  Coney was so easy, but Connor just looks at me like I am dumb.  I wonder if he is having problems because he is blind.  He seems to poop when he eats only.  He does go to the same side of the cage to pee every time.  He has a cat size litter box that he uses for a bed, and today I got him an XL rabbit litter box as well.  I want him to have his bed and a litter box.  Currently the Cat litter box (bed) is filled with hay, not that he eats much of it.  Occassionally there will be poop in there but never pee. Anyone have suggestions on how to train him.  Before I would pick up the poop and put it in his box, but that didn’t help.  He was also then having poopy butt issues. How can I get him to not poop while he is eating? I am worried that because he is blind this will be espically hard to do.  I know a few of you have blind bunnies so how did you get them trained?

The end goal is that I get him litter box trained bonded with Coney and moved into the mega rabbit apartment, so that there is a very large NIC house in my son’s room just waiting for another bunny.  See how sneaky I am.  This is all a con on hubby so we can get bunny number three. LOL

I got Grace litter trained fairly quickly by just simply putting her poops into her box and cleaning up any accidents as soon as they happened. I also vaccuumed her cage daily, and by about day 7 she had learned that the box was for poops and pees. It sounds like Connor has a preference with where to pee? Usually Grace would pee in a corner of her cage, and it actually seemed a bit like she was marking, so once she got litter trained she didn’t do this any more. It was also pretty normal for Grace to sleep in her litterbox, I had a large pile of ha in there so she was separated from any poop or pee that was at the bottom of the box. To help me out while she was getting littertrained, I put a tablecloth that I found at the Salvation Army down on the bottom of her pen so that I could shake it out and wash it easily.

I can’t believe how much that boy poops!!! I keep picking up the poops and putting them in his litterbox. When I do this he stands by the litterbox and sniffs it so I wonder if he is getting the idea that is where they go. He already peed in the box, but that was only overnight. He is so happy to be a house bunny now. When I was leaning in his chage picking up his poops he kept coming up and rubbing against me. He just wanted some pettings. When he first moved in to his new house, it took him about an hour to jump out of his bed. I wonder if he didn’t know if there was a floor or not. He kept trying to sniff the floor and would attempt to jump out and then chicken out at the last minute. Once he finally got brave enough to get out he just came up to me and wanted lovings. He really is such a sweet boy.

i’m so happy to hear that Connor is adjusting to being inside… and hopefully his litterbox skills will catch on.  i would just keep at it, and follow his lead… if he pees over there, move his box over there… he’ll get it eventually.

We have a few hours now with no stray poops. I am almost positive that he has gone because that boy is constantly pooping I just think that it is in his box.
I am so happy to have him in the house instead of the porch. When I first signed on to BB, I had both buns as outside pets. They both lived on our screened in porch. Then we built Coney the mega apartment in hopes that the boys would be bonded and they would both live there. But then Connor got sick and we didn’t even want him around Coney. Now he is all better, and has no more poopy butt problems. THat was mu hubby’s biggest concern. Connor used to have major squishy poop problems and they stunk the high heavens. So it was actually his idea that we build another nic house in our son’s room. I was shocked! Of course I had no problems with that, so now we have a cat who sleeps in my daughters room, a rabbit in the living room, and another rabbit in my sons room.
I noticed today that I have to clean out from under his bed before I let Connor run around in there. THere was some pretty discusting things under his bed.

So I was wrong about him pooping in the litter box. This morning I woke up to TWO count them TWO dustpan’s full of poopies. I do notice he is peeing in his litterbox because parts of the aspen pine are disolving.

I just have a few questions and sorry if you’ve already posted these answers somewhere, and I’ve spaced them out. So is Conner neutered? And did you say that the Connor and Coney were once bonded, but now that they are healthy, are you going to bond them again?
How long has it been since he moved to his new pace – AND was he like this out on the porch or did it get worse when he moved inside? Do other animals go near his area?

Sorry, I have been away for a bit with school.
Well let me start at the begining of BB’s questions. No Connor is not yet neutered, I was trying to bond Coney and Connor but gave up on it for a while. Coney was just so agressive towards Connor and I felt bad for him. I stoped bonding because connor was sick and having different poopy butt problems. The vet said he had Giardia and I was not sure if having him around Coney would be good or not. And now I have just been to lazy, I admit it, to get them together.
Connor gets free reign of my sons room and Coney get the living room. And no other animals are in that room. We have a cat but he only goes in my daughters room and in the hall out the door. Coney has also never been in that room.
Connor has been in the house for around two to three weeks now. Before he lived in his hutch on the porch before. He would pee in one spot but poop everywhere! Since being in the house he has only peed on the floor maybe four times. He will pee in the little box no problem, however pooping is a different story.
He poops everywhere in his condo. I have noticed that most of it is when he is eating. I don’t know how to stop him from doing that. My daughter goes in his condo and cleans them up every day sometimes several times a day in exchange for a bowl of ice cream. Do I got her trained or what. He has not had any poopy butt issues since moving into the house which I am very grateful for. Also his poop does not stink like it did before, which again I am also grateful for.
