I’m a HUGE animal lover with a special place in my heart for rabbits. I’m a proud rabbit advocate and do whatever I can to help rabbits which includes raising money for Canadian Rabbit Rescues and advising people of the cruelty they are often subject to. I make bunny crafts and donate the money raised to rescues.

I’m also a vegetarian and a member of Peta. I’m currently working on a website and blogspot to promote ways people can help these little fluffers.

Whenever I look at my sweet bunnies at home I get more determined to help all rabbits.  I am interested in learning what others do for bunny welfare! I would love to get to know you!

Cool!! Give me the website as soon as you have it up and running-I’m very interested! I’m also a vegetarian, and I am a Peta activist but also a poor student so I have not paid to officially join yet! I am very interested in helping rabbit rescues, although the closest one to me is one province away! What is your company for bunny crafts? I’d love to see them!

i’m in ontario and i’d love to know if we have any rabbit rescues.  i haven’t heard of any but then again haven’t checked in a long time!  i have been considering both rescueing another bun (have to wait for baby to get back to normal for a while first to be fair to her) and also volunteering at my local humane society.  i have a relative who works in a humane society in another city and she has told me that they don’t have anyone on staff who is knowledgeable of rabbits.  i’m thinking all it takes is one person with some knowledge on behaviour to educate others.  staff are so busy with managment and they do their best with the system in place.

i’m even more inspired to volunteer since being a member of these forums & reading about all of the incredible work thats being done!  also i’m curious to find out if my shelter would allow ‘speed dating’.  i’m leaning towards ‘not’ since their small animals are housed in an area that looks as though it was a bit  of an after thought.  that was my first reason for wanting to get involved actually… to try to help change it a bit in the bunnies & other wee exotics favor.  or at least to understand whatever politics are behind the current set-up.

            ps… Velvet… so cute!!!

Puffy tail-cutest pic!!! I am in Alberta, closest ‘rabbit’ rescue is in BC…Our shelters do deal with them, but not exclusively…I have been  wondering if I have enough time, resources etc to start a rescue?? Have you noticed that California seems to have all the rescues??? Anyways, If you need help with your site I’d be happy to help out. I have access to University libraries if you want stats; I can help you write up any articles or do research! I’m super passionate about animals!! and if you need any web help my boyfriend is a guru!! lemmie know!

Babybunsmom– There is a rabbit rescue in Ontario. They are simply called Rabbit Rescue.ca. I’ve sponsored some of their bunnies in the past.  It’s a great organization!

Kokanee– I sent you an e-mail. I have often considered starting a rabbit rescue since I have lots of spare time but I can’t find any info on how to get started!

Another rescue in Ontario is Ontario Rabbit Education Organization.  They seem to have events all over the province, but my Canadian geography is spotty at best.

                      NOTE FROM BINKYBUNNY:

This thread has been modified to eliminate a debate about Peta, animal rights, anti-vivisectionist, etc, etc.

The original request from Little Puffy Tail was “I am interested in learning what others do for bunny welfare”

Though many may have different views about groups such as Peta, and what should or shouldn’t be done regarding animal rights in general, please stick to the lighter topic at hand.

                      Thank you.

                      Helloworld!!
