Bella had her spay Monday, the 5th.  As they had promised, the vet sent home pain medicine for 4 or 5 days.  They told me to just go ahead and give it to her until it ran out.  She was really sleepy when she came home Monday evening.  She ate a few bites of hay and ran around her cage then jumped on top of her house (much to my horror, I envisioned sutures ripped open). and stretched out and went into a deep sleep.  But she did fine.  Each day she eats a little more.  Last night she peed and pooped a good bit.  She’s still not near eating, drinking or acting herself but she seems okay.  She makes an effort to clean herself an hour after her pain meds (maybe that’s what I need to feel like doing my hair and make up).  Overall I’m very pleased with how she’s doing.  The vet said to just keep her quiet in her cage for 3 days, then she should be able to resume normal activities (like her exercise pen).  I don’t think she quite feels like her pen yet anyway, she’s pretty content just sitting on her mommy’s lap.  I’m SO glad that’s over and can’t wait to have her fully back.  Thanks nibblebunny, (I’ve read your spay story several times this week, I’m glad your sweetie is okay) and thanks to everyone else, just for being here.  Diane

I’m glad everything went well for her. It usually takes a full 48 hours for the females to actually get back to normal after a spay.

i’m so glad to hear that she’s getting back to normal so quickly…  Meadow had her spay on Oct. 29… just over a week ago and she’s doing immensely better.

i’m not sure how to link… but the thread about Meadow’s spay is further down on the page under "after spay care".  there were some helpful hints there too.
