Ok, so I was talking to this lady from another rabbit forum as she has a "tri color dutch" which is apparenty a rare type…Since my Kokanee was orange originally and then after her second molt had a lot of blue on her..and keeps gettting more blue…When I described it she thought it was agouti, but when I showed her pictures she said I could *maybe call* her a tri color but she is most likely a mixed breed!

Gasp!!! I had no idea! What do you all think???

Hmm, hard to say.  I agree with the maybe but couldn’t say definately. Do you have any pictures of her "tri color dutch" to compare?

I don’t know much about breeds unfortunately – to me they are all just “cute bunnies” – your bun could definitely be a “tri-color cute bunny” though

I’m not an expert on breeds, but in my opinion, her coloring looks dutch, but because of her face shape and the length of her ears she could be a mix. I am just so used to Dutch having shorter ears and a flatter face,HOWEVER…I see them mostly at the shelter and most are mixes, so maybe what I am actually used to is the mix look of a dutch.   So…yeah…I was zero help.  Sorry.    But even IF she is a mix. She is BEEEEAUUUTIFUL.

She is stunning – I love her coloring. I think she may be a mix too. Dutches seem to have very boxy heads. My Mango is a Dutch and I have a bonded pair that I think may be more Dutch mixes – they have the markings but they aren’t perfect and the size but Peppermint is more like Kokanee with this face shape. I’ve always been very fond of the Dutches – love their markings and their intelligence – they are the classic bunnies in my opinion.

Thanks for all the help everyone! I had no idea she might be a mixed breed!  It does make sense, I have noticed her face is quite diff then other dutches I’ve seen, plus she weighs less then the breed average (just about  two pounds) so … . But I do looove the dutchies I picked her not knowing a thing about rabbits, I just liked how she only had one white foot and she periscoped constantly

Kokanee is definitely blushing from all your compiments!

Here are some pics from another forum, of a *real* tri color dutch (I guess it was just wishful thinking hehe…she doesn’t look like this bunny )

Sorry but no, I really don’t think your bunny is a tri-color. It’s normal for bunnies to darken as they moult and age. My Dahlia who is a dutch mix went through the exact same thing and most of the darker areas are in her face as well.

I’ve been pretty busy since Halloween… had a journalism convention a few hours away and such. When I got home, I just kind of dropped off the face of the earth. Frankie is doing well, but he ate a taper candle today. It was just a dye-free scent-free one, so hopefully he’ll be fine! He was just eating some hay and drinking, so I think he’s good. I don’t know what it is with him and wax! He’s a candle fiend.

Ah, I see, well you were missed!  That is a rather odd fetish of Frankie’s.  He should be OK just make sure he doing his usual business. I think that maybe he likes the texture or something.

Pepper is also a candle-eater!  When I was cleaning a few weeks ago I found a plain unscented pillar with suspiciously rounded ends.  Then a few days ago I set out a candle plate on a new table, and got home to find the mostly-melted-down jasmine pillar throroughly sampled around the ends.

                              Sigh.  Bunnies are wierd.

Lion-O ate most of an apple cinnamon scented candle the other day. They’ve been in the same place since he moved in with me, and he’d never touched them before. He smelled them the first day but that was it. Then I come home one day to find one half eaten on the living room floor…. *shrug* Bunnies ARE weird…. lol

How is Lion-O. Though many candles are made out of soy, beeswax and other non-toxic material, it may not be so dangerous but in large amounts I can imagine it could possibly cause digestive problems to watch out for.

He’s fine. I called the vet and she said to keep an eye on him and make sure he kept eating, drinking, and pooing like normal and to bring him in right away if anything changed. That was about 3 weeks ago. He’s totally okay.
