I have three rabbits and currently they have a 4’x4′ area in my room, enclosed by an x-pen with big cage making a second level with stairs leading up to it. I think they have enough space, and I also let them run around when I’m home. I just want to make sure this is in fact enough space for them, and wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for different housing–maybe a bigger upright cage? They run around sometimes and move the pen since it’s not attached to anything, so I want something more stable but I’m not sure what.

And some pics of the little cuties… could anyone tell me what breeds they might be? I’ve been curious about that.

Oh my – they are adorable! That is wonderful you have them all bonded together – I’m so jealous :~)

The little black one looks like a Lionhead. The lop is either a Holland or a Mini-Lop. The little brown one (the color looks like agouti, which means wild) is probably a dwarf mix bunny.

I do like the pen living and the cage attached is a good idea – I know alot of forum members have the cages built out of neat idea cubes – those type of pens are built upwards – hopefully someone will have ideas to help you incorporate the pen which gives the space outwards with a neat idea cage to build space upward and how to attach them because I think that would be ideal.

We recently converted our trio from a 4×4 XPen to a NIC Cube condo inside of the XPen.  You can see pictures of it on this thread , along with pictures of other members’ condos.

I concur with Sarita on the breeds and as for a new cage I would suggest a NIC (Neat Idea Cube) cage.  You can check out a bunch under BUNNY INFO and scroll down to COOL HABITATS for some ideas.  There are many places to look and it is pretty affordable housing, not to mention flexible to fit in any space!

I agree that the little black bun is a lionhead. The other two look like mixes of sorts.

The lop has such gorgeous coloration! So cute.

Cari – what cuties your bunnies are!! I’d recommend an NIC Condo too – my bunnies have one and really love it. It’s so nice since you can customize it to your needs and your bunnies. It is work to put one together, but I think the rewards are well worth it!

They are soooo precious!  I highly recommend the NIC cubes.  I’ve purchased many cages and find that they are not half as affordable as my NIC cage.  I added a major addition to  my original dog cage w/ some bolt cutters!

Thanks so much for all the replies! I’m definitely going to look into the neat idea cubes, probably tonight. I’ll post the results!

You’ll love having a NIC condo. I was so excited when I finally found the grids here. The buns were thrilled with their new cage.

I love that little trio you have!! They are all so different and look so cute together I love how they are snuggling in one big pile too! I have a bunny that looks just like your brown agouti one, except he is grey, so he looks a bit more like a chinchilla. The cubes are super fun to play with, I’m always re-arranging and re-building my bunnies cages with them! Buy some carpet squares too, that way if you build a shelf or ledge you can carpet it, and buy TONS of zip ties.
