Umm…ive tried the string one before in the past and my bun back then
just chewed it, and it wasn’t very successful. I was also looking into purchasing
one myself but I am not sure…there was a thread about it a couple weeks ago.
I was looking to get the jacket one, but I haven’t done it yet because 1) I read
that rabbits can hurt themselves 2) my bf thinks its ridiculous and isn’t necessary.
However I was thinking that if I take my bunny to bunnyfest how would he interact
with other bunnies? I dunno…but I have heard of people using the jacket leash
and taking them outside and it works perfectly fine…but then again bunnies aren’t
exactly leash pets…

I personally don’t think that a rabbit should wear a harness but if I would not use the string one – I tried this on my first rabbit and it was a disaster. The other ones seem much better but you might have to get them used to wearing one.

The string one looks flimsy, and I can’t see the strap arrangement.

The one I have is a cat harness, with a y-strap arrangement on teh chest.  I’ve seen ones in more of an H shape (sort of like 2 collars with a strap between them) and I’d be worried about choking . 

Mine has a band around her "waist" with a strap coming up along her tummy and between her forelegs.  This attaches to an O-ring at her chest, and the "collar" parts attach to that.

I think taking them to the park or camping could be very risky even with a harness – there’s just too many risks with taking them outside on a harness or otherwise- dogs, bugs, other animals, things like that. Harnesses won’t keep them safe really – I think it’s okay to do that inside somewhere but not outside.

There are just so many things they can “pick up” outside including fleas!!! I have considered it too but then decided against it because I could just imagine having to give a bunny a flea bath or making him sit there to pick them off of him. Also, you never know what these curious little creatures could eat while outside in a strange place too. All of this is just my opinion though 🙂

Wow, that third bunny looks just like Rucy! Anyway – the string one is out! I once had a rabbit that loved going out on a harness. The one I used was none of the ones you showed. It was a thick flat harness made for kittens. You are right though that a rabbit on a harness can freak out and cause injury by trying to escape while on a leash or harness. With my bunny, I followed the guidelines of getting a rabbit used to it and how to hold the leash in a way that lessens the chance of injury from rabbit agility and rabbit hopping competitions sites. We also practiced with it and got used to it within the house first. We also walked with him in a place where there were no other animals or people who could startle him. It was in a tall fenced in area. I have found that two of my three rabbits now get stressed out with just the harness on, so it’s a no go. 

Also, like others have mentioned, there are things that can be dangerous even if your bunny is fine on the leash. Example: Some Raccoons can carry a deadly disease that is passed on via their urine onto the grass. And of course fleas and parasites can really be bothersome in places. So you just have to weigh the risks.

Thiis is what I have for Pepper, but in a smaller size of course   Her head goes through the loop to the right, and the left "loop" buckles around her waist.  That strap on the bottom goes between her forelegs.  That way, the right loop does not fit like a "collar", but the straps form a sort of a Y with the O-ring sitting on her chest. It can’t choke her and she can’t get it off.

I tried the jackey type ones with coney and the little bugger would just shake it off. I think ours was just to big for him.

I would never use the string one in the first pic. I have tried the 2nd and all bunnies escaped from it. Thank goodness I always test around the house first! I also could not trust the clip at all so I threw it out.

I use a cat/kitten (depending on the bunny) harness like posted over me. It works great.

we had one like the second one and it was allright. They are much happier in the front pack doggie carrier, so I don’t use the leashes really.

I use to use the jacket one ut both my bunnies would NEVER let me put it on them they hated it. But I passed it one and from what I know it is being used and works great

The first one I bought was a string harness… lilly could just wriggle her way out of it.. now we get jacket harnesses.. tie them tight, but there is no escaping!
