        what is your bunny?

i’ve seen some netherland dwarfs, mini rexes (like my Meadow), dutches, lops…

what else do people have, or have you had?

do you like one breed over another?

how big is your biggest rabbit… your smallest rabbit?

aren’t there something like 40 or so recognized breeds?

I have a nethie that is 3 pounds…I guess he is considered my smallest and my biggest, since he is my one and only.  I do want to get another one though…I’m torn between a dwarf hotot, mini or holland lop or a dutch…though, I do love my nethie and love his spunk so it is possible that I end up with another……Oh, decisions, decisions!

that’s what i think is so cool tho… even within a breed there is so much variation… not just in looks, but also personality. i love my mini rex, but i would want to get a completely different breed maybe…

Henri is an English angora. He’s also my only rabbit. He weighs right at about five pounds. I would love to eventually get him a playmate but that won’t be for a while. I am really interested in Flemish giants because they are so big!

I have 3 bunnies.  DJ is 5 pounds, he looks like a black havana.  Curly sue is a rex/dutch mix, around 5 pounds.  Deanna is a white dwarf of some kind, maybe polish, she is about 2.5 pounds.

I pick bunnies on their personality and think bunnies often pick us and not the other way around.

I think Viktor or Droste are the smallest at just about 5 pounds and Truffles was the largest at about 7 pounds. I was 5 when we got Droste, so his size is a bit fuzzy. I think Dutch buns tend to be a very mellow breed and make great pets  – but I really do let the bun pick the people!

My first bunny was Droste (like the cocoa) and he was a Himalayan. He was very mellow, affectionate and interacted a lot with us.
Spaz was a dutch mix and pretty hyper kind of bunny.
Truffles was a silver marten. She was a bit bossy, but liked to be pet and sit on laps on occasion.
Niklaus looked almost like a wild bun – he was brown with black flecking.
Hareiette is silver marten / dutch mix. She’s got a lot of attitude, but is very sweet when she’s in the mood to be pet. She’s an alpha bun for sure.
Pandora and Viktor are both dutch mixes. Pandy is a bit big to be a dutch, she likely has something else mixed in too.

My smallest rabbit right now is Lola a white mini rex with blue eyes – not positive how much she weighs right now though.

My largest is Maxine at 13 pounds – she is a New Zealand White.

I have other kinds in between.

I pretty much have gotten my rabbits at animals shelters and I just take what they have so I’m not particular about the breed.

my lop is so cute! If I get a chance to get another bun I would definitely look
for a lionhead! Those lionheads are so freakin’ cute!

When i was small i had a great big ginger lop eared. Now I have 2 Lionheads, both complete individuals.

Angoras fascinate me, but I love any kind. Every time i see a piccy on here “I WANT THAT BUNNY”!

oh i understand that completely.  breed does not really matter to me at all… altho i would like a very very large rabbit someday maybe.  the checkered ones are very large too i think… i don’t recall the exact name.

Frankie is the only rabbit I’ve ever had. He’s a large harlequin rabbit (not pure). I haven’t weighed him since his neuter when he was younger. He was 5 lbs back then, but I’m pretty sure he’s gained a bit since then. I took him to the vet last Friday, but they measured his weight in kg, so that’s pretty useless here in California.

He showed up in a shelter recently

                                    Bonsai is a mutt.

Daffodil is a Rhinelander mix with a butterfly mark on her nose so it looks like a moustache.

My first bun Trixie was a orphaned wild bun with grey agouti coloring.

All of my rabbits have been between 7 and 9 pounds. I love Flemish giants but haven’t had one yet, there weren’t any when I went to adopt.

Pepper is my first bunny.  I keep trying to get her a friend, but she’s been pretty anti-other-buns so fay.

She’s a "North American Mutt-Bunny" – a dumped easter bunny we think, who adpoted me from a shelter.  I told them that I would be happy with an older animal, as I wasn’t up to the challenges of training a baby, so they brought me all the buns who had been there 6 months or more.  Pepper was the only one who stretched out on the floor in the pen with me – the volunteer came back in and said "well, looks like we have a winner"!

I originally didn’t want a lop – they looked more like puppies than rabbits.  Now I see uppy-eared bunnies and they always look startled to me!

I have a mini rex, Louie (4lb maybe? he kinda holds on when held to weight is hard to gauge), netherland dwarf (pint size popcorn fart maybe two pounds), Muffin Top, that were purchased (none of the shelters had bunnies at the times) and I recently adopted an albino lazy lop/fuzzy mix female who is a chunk a buns at 5 lb.

As a kid I had two netherland dwarfs or some very small breed, buck and buffy. I later had a mini lop bunny that kinda looked like bailey. His name was freckles. My parents made me keep them outside on the porch tho.

Welcome Lildove! What do your weigh?

Bailey is a Holland Lop she’s just about 4 pounds. Rucy is a netherland/silvermartin mix – She’s 4 pounds. Jack is a mix of ???? I THINK he’s rhilander and New Zealand mix. He’s 9 pounds.

I used to think tiny bunnies were more hyper and bigger bunnies are more mellow, and though there are some basic generalities that prove somewhat correct, I have found that no matter how small or how large, each bunny is different. I have met hyped out large bunnies and mellow tiny bunnies. Seeing sooo many over the years at the rabbit rescue, I see such a variety of personalities and characteristics that are not breed related.

I have a dutch and Lionhead. My dutch was my first bunny so I had no idea of breeds or anything like that…I got her because of her personality (she was not frightened of anything and was sooo curious and busy)…I got my lionhead because my boyfriend said the only way I was allowed another rabbit was if it was a lionhead. To be honest, now that I know more about breeds, for looks I would choose a giant lop eared rabbit -they are sooo cute. i would also get a netherland dwarf I think they are also ridiculously cute. I’ve read that both breeds are easy-going in terms of personality.

My dutch is about two pounds. I think this is very small compared to what I hear (around three to five for the breed) but she is defintely not skinny!! (everyone comments on her pudgie-ness-they are sooo rude )

My lionhead is not grown yet but she is about three months old and I think she weighs about as much as a sock! She’s also super tiny, although with the fuzziness she looks almost as big as my dutch!!
