Thanks so much to everyone who gave so much awesome advice.  My daughter has studied the "Lagomorph Language" site like she was studying for a final.  Many times while she was reading I would hear her laugh or she would come tell me something she figured out her precious baby was trying to tell her.  Poor Bella must feel like a superior alien trying to tolerate life with these stupid humans.  Now that my daughter has ‘learned’ that Bella is just trying to;  A) just get some more lovin’,  B) say "move you idiot, how can I escape if you’re sitting in front of the door!" or C) say "mmmm this shirt wrinkle tastes good, is there a creamy filling" things are a lot better.  She has learned / is learning to read her moods and figure out when she wants mommy time or stay out so she can have more room for binkies.  Of course she’s always welcome to come into Bellas domain to deliver a quick bite of pumpkin and then she may quickly exit if she knows what’s good for her (a little Bella mind reading on my part).  Anyway,  we are enjoying our sweet girl, fully, again, now that we understand the problem is and will always be, us.  Our bella would probably love to hook up with some of your sweeties out there and write a book, probably titled "There Are NO Bad Bunnies, Just Bad Parents!!".  Thanks so much again, we love this site !!  Diane (bellas grandma)

Hello – Yay!! I’m so glad to hear that Bella is able to “talk” to you now And its really great that your daughter took the time to learn how to understand Bella. Its so much fun when you learn what your bunny is trying to tell you because you and your bunny can really become great friends that way. I’m sure that if Bella wants to write an expose on bunny parents. mine would jump right in with how sometimes I forget to pick up their veg on the way home from the grocery store – and how sometimes I go out without their permission and do not get home in time to give them all the exercise they need…and how sometimes I ignore their dissapproving stares!

What color is Bella? I remember you said she’s a holland lop, she must be pretty cute! Did she have her spay surgery yet? Has the nipping behavior reduced since she has learned how to communicate? My bunnies tend to give me a push with their nose as a warning before a nip, so that might be something you can watch out for if she is still doing some nipping.

Yay!  I studied that sit ewhen I got Pepper and it was a huge help in figuring out what she was trying to tell me.  She will never be a snuggle bunny, but at least I know that she does love me!

              Hi Diane,

I’m so glad to hear that the language of lagomorph site has been so helpful for Bella and your daughter. 😀 Yeah, I really don’t know how our bunnies put up with us lowly humans. I often hear Hareiette say “off with their head” or “you’re fired” so I know what she thinks of us. 😀

Gravehearted, you have one tough bun! My word! How does she manage to keep you around? I bet the benefits must be good. LOL

                  MooBunnay,

I so relate to your being ‘punished’ by your buns.  I think it’s hysterical when Bella punishes her mom (my 14 yr old) b/c she actually cares when she’s in trouble with her Bella.  I’m still new to the bunny and Holland Lop world so excuse my ignorance on things.  When we got her, the lady told us she was a torte.  To me she’s just multi shades of brown.  If my daughter reads this I will be in so much trouble for calling her that.  She is absolutely adorable.  I’ve always been a cat and dog person, and I still marvel that I love a little bunny SO much! Her love for my daughter helps her more than she knows or maybe not.  The perfectly timed delivery of snuggles and kisses are probably all part of her evil plan to manipulate us.  It’s working perfectly!  The nipping has decreased quite a bit since my daughter has learned to read her.  Bella also gives a nudge, sometimes, before nipping, especially if the problem is mommy is in the way or not dispensing with the pets quickly enough.  She is also responding to the  "Bella NO" a little quicker.  MY daughter noticed last night that she is responding to her name now. (also part of her plan I’m sure) We’ve had her 5 weeks now.  Her spay is scheduled with a bunny savy vet for 05 Nov, she will be 18 weeks then. In our nightly prayer time, my daughter always has a request for Bella to come through her spay perfectly, with no complications.  Our God is faithful.  Thanks so much, again.  I love sharing our Bella love with others, also ensnared in the bunny love world. Diane
