So Floppy gets to hop around my room, and he was being really good about it…

until recently when he discovered that he is able to hop onto my bed from the floor.

So I say "No" when he jumps up and i spray him with the water bottle, but he is a

smart bunny and he hops on when I am not in the room and he marks his territory

and of course when I come back I have more laundry to do…I really hop this

behavior is eliminated when he gets neutered on Thursday September the 20th….

*sigh* Now I have to make sure I am not going to leave my room when he is

out and about. Although, since he has a pet carrier now, I have left it on the floor

for him to get aquainted with it since I felt bad about him being put in it on the day

of his surgery without him really getting used to it first. I though it would be a good

idea…being a bunny mommy is going to be stressful this week.

That is a great idea to get him used to the carrier before the vet visit! I cannot guarantee that his marking behavior on your bed will change after he is altered. A lot of bunnies choose the bed as prime marking territory because it is the spot that has your scent the strongest, so really the little stinker is trying to usurp you in the bunny kingdom pecking order. He is really just doing what comes naturally to them. There are a few things that you can do like block him from having access to your room, setting up a pen in your room, putting a plastic bag where he likes to hop up onto your bed, most bunnies do not like the texture or sound it makes and will hop promptly off (this also trains them that the bed is a no-no), you can also use something called “Snappy Trainers” that are used for cats to keep them off of furniture. I would not use them if your rabbit is particularly skiddish, which is does not sound like yours is since he ignores the squirt bottle, it is a scare tactic that often works well. You set them and when your rabbit hops onto the piece of furniture they are on it flies, flutters and makes a sound to scare them off.
