Hello again everyone. Just a quick one.

Honey Bunny is still not using her litterbox (but she has stopped pooping on me or anywhere in the house – which is great) as soon as she hits the hutch she starts pooing. Now I know she is still young etc,  but I have found that she is doing most of her business in her bed area. I’d say about 90% of poos and 99% of wee is in the bed area?

I have made the bed area more appealing to relax in as in put lots of hay and straw and made it very comfy for her and made the litter tray less comfy with little straw and newspaper.

She does go and sit in her litterbox, she sits in there regualry actually, but I just don’t know how to stop her toileting in the bed area. I don’t even mind if she does it all over the hutch but I don’t want her to dirty her bed area if possible, I feel bad for her.

        Any other suggestions? Please?

        Thanks in advance guys.

Switch the bed and the litterbox! They usually stick to one corner for their "business"

digxmexnow’s suggestion fo change the location is right on. Another thing too is that bunnies like to eat while they poo, so actually having the hay in there will encourage that pooing/eating behavior. Can you use another material for her bedding? What about fleese or some soft blanket? Some bunnies will still mark their blanket to claim it though so it’s a good idea to have a few so you can replace while washing.

If you find your bunny ends up trying to eat the bunny blanket/cloth then you’d have to find something else.

Also, each time you clean the litterbox, leave/add a few poos and a tiny bit of urine in there, so she’ll continue to get the idea that it’s the litterbox, not the bed.

              Thankyou for your responses.

But…. I can’t swap the bed for the litterbox as such as the bed area is a room that she goes in that is closed off like a dog kennel scenario, if you get what I mean. I have moved the littler box around to no avail. I have put the poops in her litter tray also, still not working.

I haven’t thought about putting the hay in her litter tray and not her bed area as I thought (and had been told) that I am supposed to put hay / straw in her bed area for her – is that wrong?

They’ll eat the hay no matter where you put it! Haha

Personally, for my bun, I use a small cat-sized litterbox and fill the front half with hay and leave the back half for him to do his "business" in. It is a good way to reinforce litterbox habits while also making a bit less of a mess!

OH man, now I”m really confused 🙁

Do you or anyone else have a pic of what I should be doing? I can’t access the picture section for some reason but I can see posted pics within a thread?

basically if a bunny keeps going potty in a spot, you want to move a litterbox there.

it’s not wrong to have hay in a bunny bed – but it may be confusing her. many of us put hay in the box to encourage bunny to use the box and eat hay. I understand you can’t swap the bed for a litterbox since you’re using it to block off the area- but perhaps you could buy a larger / taller litterbox to block the area?
