I’ve just read about Trooper the poor bun, and I just cannot understand some people’s mentality towards animals!  Around this area we’ve had several fairly recent horror stories about various animal cruelty situations – a cat being found dead tied by the neck to a fence in a woods, some monster who thought it hilarious to put the family cat in the microwave (luckily  – well perhaps not so luckily – it survived), some complete arrusholes who broke into a childrens school and tore apart their nature area, animals ‘n all,  Granted I’ve had a couple of alcoholic beverages, but ROAR!!!  It just makes me sick to the stomach.

And on a lighter note…. we have a new Jollyes pet food store thing in the not so sunny town of High Wycombe, where I purchayyysed some delectable rabbit stuff today, very good it is, although IT DOESN’T SELL BOODA DOMES!!  I was really quite annoyed by this.  🙂

I know – I just don’t understand these things either my boyfriend always teases me (kindly tho) because if I even see roadkill I burst into tears – I can’t imagine ever having the desire to inflict pain on a poor defenseless animal!

As for the booda domes – guess I’ll just have to start a Booda Black Market

Like Fujoe on the other post said, "I hate people" When you hear stories like the ones you’ve described, I just want to ring people’s necks!! There are people who are just selfish, careless and/or clueless, and then there are darkly disturbed people that need their heads examined. And people see stories like that, and don’t give a flick about the animals that were abused, then they should at least look seriously at the abuser’s mental well-being as that anger could someday be used against humans in a sick and deranged way.

On a lighter note:  That Boodadome is going to be the bane of your existence.  We must find you one!!

At least you have this nifty gadget available to you – The bunny warren.    Not fond of the bright green color, but otherwise, I think it’s great!  I can’t find it easily here at all!   I called SnuggleSafe to ask them who their U.S. distributor was and they said they are still working on that, but right now they are not distributed at all in the U.S.

On the subject of roadkill, would you guys ever TOUCH (w/o gloves) a wild animal that was roadkill but still alive? My boyfriend moved a WILD rabbit that had been runover (rampant in Southern California) but was still alive. I yelled at him for not wearing gloves. I know if you touch a coyote that has mange its contractible to humans. I don’t know. I personally wouldn’t touch a WILD animal without calling animal control.

I’d NOT touch with bare hands, I’d make the boyfriend strip off (nekid if it needed) and use his clothing to wrap round the animal. I remember one night YEARS ago finding a little fieldmouse (hardly roadkill I know, but..) that a friend’s cat had tried to demolish. I walked home for MILES with the poor little thing in my pulled down sleeves. All I could think about were the horrible mites and fleas that must be crawling around on it’s skin. Urgh!

Binky Bunny, if only you knew how much I have developed a strange obsession with the Booda Doma. lol

I actually read Troopers story and cried… i seriously can not get my head around how anyone could do this!!!! it makes me so sad

I personally wouldn’t touch a roadkill (or not quite) with bare hands… but my husband now gets called ‘pigeon man’ by one of my best friends cause he has rescued so many pigeons!! He just can’t leave them when he see’s their hurt  we even had to attempt to rear a baby pigeon when he found that, but luckily the parents came back.  (Not before we had to attempt to feed it a bloody worm!!!- I am pertified of worms!!!!!!)

He watched it for hours when we put it out to see if the parents came down to it.

Hey maybe we could start a black market swap-see with the Booda’s Domes and The Bunny Warrens!!  How funny we always want what we can not have xx

BunnyBabe – That is a very endearing quality your husband has!  My best friend is like that. She has the softest heart for every single animal.  She even stopped traffic in downtown San Francisco to get an injured pigeon out of the middle of an intersection.  She picked him up with a towel, put him in her car so she could get the bird vet care.

She said she was highly embarrassed running out in front of all the cars like a big goofball (in high heels no less), but she just couldn’t watch what was happening and do nothing.  I said I’m sure nobody blinked an eye.  Around here, you have to be an alien for anyone to think you’re strange.  And even then, I’d doubt they’d bat an eye.  They’d probably just invite the alien out for drinks.   I know I would.

I haven’t ever stopped to help roadkill here in LA because I’m so concerned that someone would run me over….I think someone would even do it INTENTIONALLY if they thought I was the one that hit the animal. But once I did find a little mouse in the winter in Boston that was stuck outside – he was laying on the sidewalk shaking all over because he was so cold. I had mittens on so I picked him up and he curled up in my mitten and I brought him home and put him in a box….once he warmed up he went FLYING out of the box and I don’t know where he went….the doors in the apartment building didn’t completey touch the floor so I think he eventually escaped…never told my roommates about that one….

Speaking of “I just don’t understand” someone posted on craigslist about how they were trying to get rid of a bunny for “stew” or “snake food” and then a couple days later posted about how it was “just a test” and totally bashed rescues because more rescues responded better to a “bad owner” than a “good one”.. I got so infuriated I wrote the person a nasty letter…but I feel bad about that now…

Some people take great pleasure in winding others up, don’t feel bad. They’re the fools!
I know people who have animals and claim to be animal lovers, and would never be seen as a bad owner to outsiders, yet they always moan about the cost of a vet trip, or how they can’t afford the vet fee, and they’ll take the animal to the vet NEXT month, whenever, …….erm?..so don’t have the flippin’ animals in the first place.
