        Hi!

So, I went a little crazy purchasing bunny care items the past couple weeks between having a sick Raymond – and then agreeing to foster two bunnies that had the sniffles and I started my own bunny first aid kit – I was wondering if everyone else had one of these, and if so, what do you have in there? This is what is in mine:

        1.  Unflavored Pedialyte

        2. Baby banana food and applesauce (both of which the only ingredient is fruit)

        3. Hydrogen Peroxide (does anyone know if this is what you are supposed to use to disinfect syringes etc.?)

        4. Styptic Powder for any nail trim accidents

        5. Nail Clippers

        6. Q-Tips

        7. Eye droppers

        8. Syringes

        9. A pack of Oxbow Critical Care

        10. A baby hospital style nasal aspirator to help the baby buns with their stuffed noses

        11. REGULAR neosporin

        12. Gauze

        13. Bandages

My emergency kit contains the following items:

A stethascope (for listening to their stomach)
          Simtheocone (gas drops)
          Q-tips
Flour (which can be used instead of the stypic powder)
          Toe clippers
          Petromalt (laxative)
          Basic Neosporin
          Eyedropper
          Tweezers
Pedialtye (be careful, this has an expiration date)
Saline (for washng out eyes in an emergency)
Heating pad (if bunny goes into hypothermia)

One thing I do need to buy is Oxbow’s Critical Care. I’ll ask my vet next time I go.

Hydrogen peroxide is not sufficient to disinfect syringes.  It’s good for cleaning and debriding wounds, but isn’t too good on surfaces.  You need rubbing alcohol or bleach for that.

I have a very basic kit, as I have the stuff like q-tips and bandages on hand for myself!

            Feeding syringes

            Critical Care

            Unflavored simethecone

            applesauce for meds

            regular neosporin

I also have the Otirinse ear drops that my shelter and my vet recommended to rinse her little loppy-ears out every 2 weeks or so.

ooo OK, I kept trying to look up online how to "disinfect syringes" and kept getting these nasty drug user sites…eek! I was thinking – that is NOT the type of syringe I am talking about!
