… so my boyfriend couldn’t resist the adoption event he was working at today, and came home with the teeniest little girl bun as a girlfriend for his boy Martin!  I keep telling people now that bunnies don’t have to have babies for them to multiply…that makes 3 buns for my BF and 3 for me…but this new little girl is from the massive Garden Grove rescue we did (the trappers are going to Garden Grove on Monday, and the remaining bunnies are being trapped and killed *BOO HISS TO THE TRAPPERS* so the Bunny Bunch tried to get as many of the 500 out as possible).  She is a Netherland Dwarf, and I have never seen a bun so tiny! We named her Nilla (as in Vanilla Wafers) and I am enchanted. Anyways, I will post pictures of her soon!

PS: If anyone is looking for ANY type of bunny, we’ve got them all from this huge rescue, we have one foster home with 75 bunnies!

I love the fact that your boyfreind is involved in helping the buns too!

My husband is a closet bunny lover. He adores our buns and is so protective but not sure if I could get him out to help.

Cute faces are a hazard of the job. Thats how we got Cooper. But if I had room I would take them all home! lol

              Hi!

I haven’t asked the details on how many they think are left, as I am a bit to faint hearted for that…but I know that the original estimate was 300-500 bunnies, and we caught a LOT I think they estimated 100-200 left around before the last attempts at the end of this week, but i know we caught quite a lot in the past weekend.  The thing that was most sad to me is that they were telling me they caught buns that had been injured by slingshots, even came across a poor bunny that had been taped in a box! Who tapes a bunny in a box?? I’m just glad that at least some are safe now, even one less for the trappers to get is a happy thing

Good News! The trappers gave US the bunnies they caught so far – around 50 – instead of killing them. We ran out of foster homes and now they are sending them to the OC shelter, we are trying to arrange something with the OC shelter where they will extend the amount of time they keep the buns in the shelter.

Great news, MooBunnay!  I shudder to think how many of those 50 are pregnant females….

Tip- don’t piss off your neighbors because most cities only allow like 2-3 domestic pets or less. One of the ladies in rescue had to get rid of hers because neighbors called animal control.

MooBunnay – i here ya.  I was happy with just two, but then my first (and ONLY) foster rabbit, Jack, just stole my heart.   I realized I can’t foster anymore.

That’s wonderful your BF is involved in volunteering!   My husband who never had interest in rabbits (prior me) is involved somewhat too and volunteers once a month.  He used to do more, but he has found it soo overwhelming (especially post Easter) with all the work that needs to be done, that he says he just can’t take it.   Which is why we need more help, but I’m just happy he wants to be involved at all.   So I volunteer weekly, and he usually joins me the first week of each month.

He even saved two bunnies once when he was golfing.  He saw a guy who was about  to let two domestic bunnies loose on the course.  My husaband said he would take them,  he then took them to the SPCA.  (no kill shelter)   And he  always educates anyone who is interested in listening.

Funny how these little fuzzy faces can really  affect us.

My husband adores our three buns but has yet to offer to go help at the shelter. He works a lot and I think his part is letting me spend $ to make sure the shelter buns get their greens and hays. If it wasn’t for him I couldn’t do that for them. And listening to me talk about my shelter buns all the time. lol

Tomorrow he is going with me to a House Rabbit Society picnic about 1hr 30min from our home. First ever being there but it should be fun. Hopefully there will be more men there. lol

Fortunately me and the BF don’t live together – or else we’d def be over whatever bun limits exist, haha. For now I just don’t talk to my neighbors too much about my apartment, I don’t really make any noise so hopefully I’m still on the neighbor’s good side!
Those of you that have BFs not quite so bunny crazy – thats probably a good thing! or else you’d have 26 gazillion eventually like me and my BF will! Our “dream” is to open up a bunny retirement home, where any old buns that get dumped can go to live our their bunny lives in “assisted living” hahaha
