I am contempating on getting a rabbit and have seen some lovely ones at a display recently. My rabbit Lily (Dwarf Lop) as some of you know recently passed away.
I love the rex’s – beautiful as but I am quite keen on getting a bigger rabbit … something along the lines of an English Giant … now that is big! They had one at the display and he was gorgeous. Anyone here have a larger than life rabbit … would love to hear from you if you have.

why not adopt?
i know that bigger buns are usually more loungy and very cuddly. my bf’s ben was like that.
Hi! I don’t know what area you are in, but big bunnies are a great idea, and the big WHITE ones are the BEST for personality, heartiness, and cuddling, AND shelers are overflowing with them, if you are anywhere in the so cal area I would have no trouble getting you a HUGE selection.
BTW, I know of aparticular fantastic bunny named Buster who is big, cuddly and looking for a home, check out this site: http://www.bunnybunch.org scroll down a bit and you will see Buster, depending on where you are, we could prob. transport him to you!
Hi Ladies
Thanks for all your replies. Oh gosh I just looked at the bunnybunch website … Buster is adorable and so were all the other lovely bunnies. I could take Buster home, however unfortunately I live in Perth, Western Australia. We don’t have bunny shelters here only animal shelters for dogs/cats, nothing like you have over there. I regularly call my local RSPCA as sometimes they get the odd bunny in but nothing has eventuated.
It astounds me how people can just dump those poor sweet bunnies and I was horrified to see the pics of the poor bunny covered in mites and left in that stinky cage. It makes my heart bleed.
Probably just as well I don’t live in USA as my house would be full of bunnies …
My other bunny, Sprinkles (she lives at my boyfriend’s house) is an english spot and Buster looks a bit like her too.
I wish I was closer.

awwwww…… ionno if they can get buster to you but i bet there is someone out where u live that needs someone to take their bunny in for some reason. ^ ^ good luck bunny searching.
hmmm Australia….not so close really…hahaha…thats too bad, poor little Buster is a sweet guy! I wish there were more people here looking for big bunnies too. I was just liked everyone else when I first adopted, I told my BF to let the shelter he adopted from to find me a sweet cute little girl, and I love her (and her teeny huus-bun) to death, BUT now that I have spent more time with the BIG ones, i realize how fantastic they are, and my next one is probably going to be the size of all my bunnies put together! I think my little Kramer’s mother must have been one of those micro bunnies people were talking about, we thought he was a baby when I got him, but its been almost 6 months and he hasn’t grown at all!
Here is a good Aussie rabbit website. Perhaps they could help you find a bun to adopt?
i agree with moobunnay. i wanted a little one atfirst but after looking at and reading about big buns i wanna big bun myself. not saying i dont love my buns but they arnt ant much of a cuddly type. but they are still young so many be, cross my fingers.
funny thing is, i think my bun is pretty small and my dad thinks its pretty big and because my mom already makes a big mess in the house with her hamsters my dad doesnt really enjoy the buns. how ever, that makes me mad, i could have settled for one bun but he had to tell me that i had to get two and if he says they are getting too big (which they probably wont, but i am getting mad thinking about it.) if he wants me to give one away, i will be so mad and i will make him so mad by not giving one away. i am keeping them regardless of what they say!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh thanks so much for that information. I have emailed them for any assistance they can give me. I live in Perth, the West Coast but they are on the East Coast, however its worth a try! Thanks Again.

Aawww thats so sad! I would never give my pets away, particularly when you get so attached to them. I have my own place so I can do as I please, however living at home with mum and dad can be difficult at times.
I also have guinea pigs, but they don’t roam around the house as I would never be able to find them. I used to have the two running around in the loungeroom but they would hide and run whenever I tried to catch them. Personally, they were a nuisance being out roaming. They are both housed inside in their cages, but I bring them out most nights … my older one is great he just likes being cuddled and petted, but the young one is a pain … he’s a dirty pig! He tries to ‘bonk’ my pig and he also has this awful habit of spraying and boy does that stink rotten. Best in his cage …
Keep your bunnies Chooky … they are so much nicer and cleaner than hammies/piggies! LOL

darn right i am =)
and my dad wanted me to get a guinea pig. =P well when i get a place of my own some day, i am going to have quite a few buns funning around my house. =) one at a time though. =P just watch.
Hi Dawn! I love love love big bunnies. I know you are from down under and don’t have access to bunnies here in the U.S., but just for fun, check out this gorgeous huge bunny named Sherwood at SaveABunny. http://www.saveabunny.com/?q=node/2614 The video seems to make him look smaller than he really is, but the picture really does him justice.
I have heard that larger bunnies like this do not live as long as smaller bunnies. I guess sort of like in the dog world – a great dane’s life span is shorter than a poodles. : (
OH YEAH! That is the type of bunny I want … he is gorgeous! He is like a big teddy bear. Aawwww I want him now. LOL

OH MY GOD!!!! I WANT SHERWOOD!!! If I had known.. and maybe if i were a little closer.. I would have scooped him up in an INSTANT. That is exactly the kind of bunny i have been searching for!! eep!! ooh wells. I guess I should wait anyway, i might go out of the country for school next year.. and I wouldn’t want to stick my bf with a big bunny.. lol.. but seriously. im getting one. omg!! ahhhh.
Holy nuts that is a lot of bunny. I want Sherwood too!!!! Tried to look for giants when I was getting my two. I am kind of in the same situation as Dawn. The closest bunny rescue is about 6 hours away and they really don’t have them in the cat and dog places.
There are a couple of flemish giant sisters up at Red Door….
haha I WANT SHERWOOD TOO ![]()
for anyone in CA looking for a BIG friend, there is a big guy (with a wife-bun) at Petsave in San Pedro!
what type of bun is sherwood? is there a specific breed that gets that big?
Sherwood is a french lop 🙂
Flemish, German are British Giants are pretty much the biggest of all bun breeds. But French and English lops can also get pretty large.
oooooo now i know what other bun i want too……
Oohhhhhhhhh just imagine how much those big boys would eat and of course of size of their poops! LOL
Well, amazingly his poops were that much larger. But actually most of the bunnies at the rescue eat tons of hay, and therefore their poops are healthy big. Sherwood does pretty well with his litterbox habits now too.
awwwwwwwwww what a good boy. truthfully id rather have one his size. it doesnt smell as bad and it is easier to see compaired to the smaller ones that can blend in with the carpet.
Sherwood is fabulous…I showed Felony his picture and told him that if he didn’t start behaving I was going to bring a Sherwood bunny home to regulate and put his fluffy butt in line….I’m pretty sure he didn’t listen
hahahaha ur proably right. i think my parents would LOVE a bun liek Sherwood though. =P too bad my mum would probably play with him to death. – -" her poor poor hamsters. they are no longer nocturnal, i dont even think they ever get to sleep. =/ but boy do they live the luxury life. they have so many toys and good food. gosh, i think they eat better than i do. they even have a 2 different cages (one they normally live in, and the other is a play castle with lots of tubs), 2 big clear plastic houses (they were once Brownie boxes so they smell yummy) with very soft fluff inside to shuffle around. spoild hamsters…….
