This may have been covered before, sorry if it has……  What do you recommend using to cover wires?  Mostly, Noble leaves wires alone, however, there is one brand new lamp in our living room, he likes to go behind the couch where the cord hangs down, and takes little nips.  He chewed through the last lamp cord, we had to buy a new lamp!  Now here he goes, starting again on the new one.  I’d like to hear what people use to stop bunnies from chewing cords/wires and where they buy it.   Thanks!

We bought wire covers at Home Depot. They are black in color. I dont remember the cost but they were much cheaper than gettting at a pet store.  A few times Ive seen them nip at the covers. We usually keep a phone book or magazines near where the wires are just to keep them preoccupied. lol

Sophie got zapped when she was a baby. Almost stopped my heart. Doesn’t like cords or wires now. Go figure.
I bought aquarium tubing from the Pet Supplies store. super cheap.

Ikea and radio shack also sell the cord covers, and they really do help. Ikea’s were 99 cents I think compared to $5 at radio shack! The one thing I discovered with them – is they cover the cord very well, but the plug is still exposed. My bunnies managed to slide one open and got to the cord right next to the plug!

We try to hide as many of the cords behind things as possible. Our tv stand is open, and after the 3rd time we had to replace the PS2 wires we blocked it off with an x-pen. My husband’s desk is at the far end of the living room, so we’ve mostly trained the bunnies to not go over there.

Thanks for your advice, Hedi, dmh426, and gravehearted. I tried the Ikea covers a year or so ago, but Noble chewed them. I think he thought they were just for him. They were kind of flimsy and he just chewed right through. I will check out the aquarium tubing, as well as home depot’s black wire covers.

sneaky Noble! I have always believed that where there’s a rabbity will, there’s a way, lol!
the aquarium / pvc tubing is much thicker than those cord covers, so hopefully will work better for you.

If there is a rabbity will, the bunny will definitely find a way!!!! Sophie managed to “escape” her playpen habitat last night, which is a puppy pen with TWO latches. She got them both undone. I woke up to find her sleeping in the crook behind my knee. I moved and she darted back into the habitat and flopped over. I think she was jsut proving her point “hahaha Mommy, if I wanted out, I could get out!”

So the ones he chewed through were those plastic corregated tubing?   Like the ones that I show in the bunny proofing section?  Or what did they look like?  Otherwise, if the corregated tubing might work, you might want to try Cole Hardware on Cole street.  They have them in many sizes and in big rolls, so you can just request almost any length.
