So I went away for the week end and could not bring my bunnies. I figured it was for the better anyways as it was 1.5 hours on a good day t get where we were going. SO I made sure they were clean, pellets water, hay an veggies an I arrange for ym cousin to come on saturday and do veggies and check on everything she has pets so she knows what is involved.
Well I come home Dora the female peed all out thecage she never cleaned it, her dish was bone dry no pellets, water was not replaced and she had no hay, Oreo y male still not much water gone she never replaced it but with him he is slow on eattin hay so he had lots left still.
I am not happy with this and I dont think i will ask herfor a favour again as to me I would take care of someone eles animals like they weremy own.
Just angered me a little, I told her to make sure tey were fed etc and yet still I guess he party she rushed to fterwoprds was more impotant GRRR
Im sorry to hear what happened. Do you have anyone else that you are close to where the bunnies can stay? Leaving the buns without someone there like that can be a bad thing-if one got sick the chances of your cousin or anyone else that is there for a quick feed and cleaning will probably not notice or even know anything is wrong. So if one had gas or stasis in the amount of time you were gone could have been fatal. But don't beat yourself up. You arent the first to do this. When we got married my neighbors came and played with the buns and fed/cleaned but it was only because we had absolutely no one because we got married out of state and everyone went with us. But our neighbors didnt have room for the buns and had buns in the past so at least they would have been in good hands.
Is there any other bunny people around where you live? Someone who could take your buns in while you are gone and you could repay the favor for them?
I have also seen online places where you can sign up and its the same thing. You can find people who can take in your animals while you are gone. The sight I found was for cats and dogs but if you look maybe there is one?
If we go away our buns stay with my inlaws. They enjoy the time to play with the rabbits and they love watching the silly stuff they do.
