My rabbits name is Princess and yesterday for some reason she started acting out. She has never been mad at me before but she was attacking my hands and grunting. I also have another bunny name Opal and they are so in love but starting yesterday she has been very distant from him as well which is extremely strange. She hops away fast when Opal or myself tries to get near her. She is about 6 months old now and I’ve been doing research on rabbits going through a rebellious stage as a “pissed off teenager”. Does this sound like what she is going through? Could her not being spayed have anything to do with it? And she keeps pooping and peeing outside her litter box which she has also never done. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is Opal neutered? If not, her behavior could mean she’s pregnant. Otherwise, it could simply be that she isn’t spayed. Sometimes hormones will kick in and a bunny will start acting, well, hormonal.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. If Opal isn’t neutered there’s is a near 100% guarantee that Princess is expecting. If Opal is neutered, I think this is a typical case of hormonal teenage girl bunny.

If she’s expecting you should give her a nest-box and extra food, and you must separate her from Opal. If Opal is neutered it’s just time to consider getting Princess spayed. Spaying has many health-benefits for girls.

You really shouldn’t put rabbits who aren’t both spayed and neutered together – just one fight can end with serious injuries. I really hope your male was neutered because 6 months is too young for a rabbit to have kits and the pregnancy could end up very badly for the doe and kits (like the doe dying giving birth or not being ready to be a mother and dismembering all the babies).
If your male is neutered, it’s time to spay your doe to calm her down and avoid her getting ovarian / uterine cancer / mastitis in the future.
