Flynn, whom I was told was male, went to get her neuter Monday. The vet informed me that my little Flynn is actually female. She was spayed, and seems to be taking it very well. She seems happy as usual, oddly enough. But, I have never had a bunny before her, and I am a bit worried. I don’t know if her incision looks normal or now, and I am extremely worried. If anyone could tell me if it looks normal, I would appreciate it so much!

To me, it looks a little swollen, should I take her back to the vet?

            When was she spayed?

It does look pretty big and scabby to me. I would ring the vet. Most vets will do a re-check after spay for free or half price.

My girl had developed an infection between the skin folds of her spay incision and needed antibiotics.

She was spayed on Monday, so it’s only been three days. My poor girl. I gave them a call, and emailed them a picture. They close very soon, so I’ll likely have to bring her tomorrow if she needs it I’m waiting to hear back from them.

To me it looks somewhat lumpy. :/
I’d washcloth bathe it with chamomile tea a few times and pop to the vet first thing in the morning just to be on the safe side. (((heal soon)))

I’ve had three rabbits spayed.  Their incisions and the stitching looked very normal…no redness and no swelling. The spaying was done by a vett with a lot of rabbit expertise.  Neither of the rabbits had those plastic cones placed on their necks.  None of them seemed fussed with the incisions.

Thank you everyone. I took Flynn to the vet today, and she was sent home with Metacam, enrofloxacin suspension, and silver sulfadiazine. Hopefully my little girl will be much better soon

I have a small concern. My bun grooms a lot, and it was a bit hard to tell if she was licking her incision area. I moved her, but if she licked her silver sulfadiazine, will she be alright?? She really didn’t bother the area before, but I’m not sure if it’ll be different now that the ointment is on

I wouldn’t expect the vet to have prescribed something that would be harmful if ingested. However you could always phone the vet to double check that it’s safe for her to be licking the area after you’ve applied it. Otherwise you may need to put a soft cone or collar on her to prevent her from fussing with the incision if she’s bothering it too much.
