Today I picked the year’s first bunny-salad, dandelion greens and ground elder:
It wasn’t a lot, but the buns seemed very happy about it!
Very nice, Olly had a big treat today, he had some of his special rabbit chocolate left over from Christmas, it is dandelion flavoured, he loved every bit of it, Mummy says. “You want chocolate Olly?” He comes of of his cage so quick to get some.
I got a new lens for my camera, and immediately had to test it out on the very models I bought it for – the bunnies, of course!
A few snaps I felt were approaching acceptable, though BB apparently doesn’t feel like preserving picture quality:
Aww so sweet, I got a camera sent to me for Mother’s day, (UK March the 6th) but its a webcam, they are not my children, but its a lovely thought and gift.
This angle makes his ears look so small! It’s so hard to believe he’s 8!
Hey BinkyBiffle, try explaining why a cat is 9 years old and smaller than a 6 year old dog to a young child, lol.
Nice picture, he’s a bit like my Olly.
Gina tried to mimic Pippi’s bad hare day, but didn’t quite manage it
redbunbun: what kind of camera? what kind of lens?
I love photography – the light (especially in the pictures with Tossu) is beautiful! I miss south/west-facing windows. All the windows in my flat face north (one faces east) so I can’t take advantage of the glorious golden light we have here in Kuwait.
Q8bunny, it’s a Canon 60D with a 50mm f1.8 lens. It’s my “little camera”, my full frame body has had some issues lately so I’ve had to use the crop frame for a while now – no money to buy a new full frame! I miss the full a lot, but the 60D is a nice little piece as well. It serves me as well as it can, for now! And thanks for the praise – the light is nice here when the sun shines through the windows at around noon, and I took advantage of it there.
Soooooo many photographers are in total love with their 50mm lens…. can’t remember her BB name – took lovely ones of her horse, haven’t seen her around for a few months….
You are all making me soooo tempted…..
I switched to a Nikon D7000 myself and the 50mm was my go-to lens for fabulous shots. Fast, sharp, and perfect in low light conditions too. Can’t beat the convenience to quality ratio.
@Pinky
Haha, it usually depends on the breed.
Bianca met her distant brother at the vet today.
Guess who is who
My Jack is finally back to normal! Eating like crazy and running jumping playing. Its been a week since the cage incident and I couldn’t be happier that we’re putting what happened behind us
Here are some photos of my little boy. Love to see all of your buns!
How funny – the 2 identical buns !
Hey Jack ! Well done, back to normal !!
I think I’ll be looking for a 50mm lens shortly ……
Ggggr just looking up 50mm lenses to buy for a Nikon (just to see, no cheque book out yet… whistling innocently), and there are as many different lenses as there are rabbit breeds !!! And prices to go with them… HOW to choose ??!! I thought the words Nikon and 50mm would be enough !! D’Oh !!
Is Bianca on the left? lol
Yay Jack!
Vienna: go for the lowest f-stop you can afford (and if your Nikon has a cropped sensor, don’t forget that a 35mm FX lens will work like a 50mm DX lens on your camera. There are affordable 35mm f2.8 FX lenses out there that work beautifully.
A little bit of a throwback picture that popped up in my facebook memories from 3 years ago! I was cleaning the ashes out of the fireplace and there was a pile swept up on the floor, and you’d never guess who decided to flop right on top of said pile of ash. (Incase anyone needs a reminder, she’s a fully black bunny. )
Thanks Vienna Blue and Q8bunny!
Q8bunny yes, I see someone knows their lionhead faces lol
Bunny Daddy mine looove to flope in front of the brush when I’m cleaning.
Q8 – I think I need a crash course of interpreting your kind explanations… LOL.
I will note all you said in the knowledge that one day I might understand it ! I have NOOO idea if I have a cropped sensor and what it would mean if I did !! LOL (PS I have a Nikon D5200)
But “going for the lowest f-stop I can afford” is a good sentence to remember – thanks !!
Hey, Guys,
I just resized some of your photos in the February Pictures thread. Here are my tips again:
If you post a pix, and it doesn’t fit completely within the box where you’ve typed and inserted the image, just click the image and look for a tiny white square in the upper left corner of the pix. Mouse over that square to grab it, and pull diagonally down/over toward the center of the image. Do that several times until the image is completely within the reply/post box. Then hit submit.
If you find the photo is still too big, you’ll know by seeing a scroll bar at the bottom of the forum page that needs you to scroll from left to right to view the whole reply and image. In that case:
Click EDIT on the far right of that post or reply. It opens to the reply box. Follow the instructions above to resize your pix to fit within the box. Submit again.
Sometimes you have several pix that fit, but sit side by side. In that case, arrow past the first pix, click the space bar to insert one space next to it, click Enter to move down a row, and then have your second photo below it instead of next to it. You can insert the next pix there, or if you already had them all in, you’ve added a space and a row between images. It just fits better to scroll down than to scroll sideways, which effects the whole page. (The cute pix of Jack above are a good example of doing this right with a little space in between.)
Thanks!
Velvet is shocked that someone would suggest taking a picture of her butt just because it’s Friday! lol
Hi everyone!
Vienna: LOL
Okie pokie. Your D5200 has a cropped sensor. And if you look at your lens or lenses, there will be a “DX” stamped on there with the focal length etc. So you want either a DX 50mm in the lowest number after the “f” part that you can afford, or a lens with “FX” on it instead that is 35mm in the lowest f-stop number you can afford.
Check out Adorama online – they have fab selection and prices with really affordable and excellent used or refurbished lenses too.
CT, Velvet is right, it really IS rude to take pix of somebunny’s butt and then publish it all over the Internet! Humans are so insensitive!
LOL
Chewie wouldn’t be indignant. He’s too grateful that his mommy doesn’t give in to temptation and bite his adorable bum every time he “sunbathes”.
LOL The shark looks like he’s there to break some kneecaps if she gives the word.
Q8 – thanks it’s all SO clear now !!! ROFL….. I’m so excited to learn I have a cropped sensor !!!! LOL
It’s a definite ‘What YOU looking at?’!! Godfather kinda look. She’s a Godbunny or a Bunfather….. LOL
Our Velvet (L) and Vinny (R) have been ruling the downstairs while Tilly and Duncan rule the upstairs.
As far as the bonding process has gone, the boys aren’t really bonded yet, but won’t attack each other either, they just want peace. The girls are still having alpha battles, even if little Velvet seems to be winning. They’re both stubborn little girls.
Ooof… they look positively squeeeeeshy!
My favourite beach bunny.
I give up!!
Ha! Nuts to you, home internet – I gots work internet too! *shakes bum at home internet*
P.S. No. Chewie is not a smoker. He swore to his mommy that it was all the other boys on the beach.
Oh my goodnes. What a sweet boy!
Q8, What a cute beach-bunny! I’m glad to hear Chewie’s not a smoker. Smoking isn’t good for bunnies, it makes the fur around the mouf yellow.
Cottontail, the girls look almost unreal, like toy bunnies! That fur!
LOL Thanks, guys and gals.
I’m absolutely crazy about him. *hugs Chewie until he boxes*
Chewie really is rather cute – good job you’ve got a visible lead on him….. you’d never find him otherwise !!!
ah i wish i can bring my bun to the beach too. No beach near where i live.
Aww… well that just means that you don’t have to clean the sand out from between a squirming bun’s toes.
I just woke up and it’s the last day before the weekend for us, and Chewie is trying to lick me into getting up so I can make his breakfast while he makes the bed (i.e., tries to flatten my duvet and pillows with his paws). LOL
How do i attach pics
Wow, that is a handsome bunny Excript! He looks so soft!
I fixed your pic from my PC, when you upload from a phone (as I’m assuming you did), the pic doesn’t show until you edit the post from a PC. You can upload the pic you want to show to an external source like imgur, photobucket etc and then paste the link to the pic into your post. Or upload the pic from a PC/laptop.
Oh my goodness he looks like a serious fella.
Love that face!
I’ve already posted this pic in the bonding forum, but its the first time Pippi and Gina have even stayed side by side, never mind snuggled for over five minutes, and its a lovely pic.
You’re right – it is pure bunny sweetness.
Jack got a new friend today!
Right after this he knocked the new bun over and flopped next to him. I was worried that he would eat the toy but only sleeping next to and grooming so far!
Skyesblue, tough choice! Lucky bunny!
This is Bam, melting in my mother’s lap.
My sweet boy is 1 today! Here are a couple of pictures from Chewie’s birthday breakfast.
I can’t believe he’s been with me for nearly a year.
Congratulations Chewie!!! You are a beautiful boy!
Congrats on a bunny birthday! What a lovely birthday breakfast it looks so omnomnom.
And Bam looks like really enjoying the attention. Btw. We have exactly the same blanket, and Redford really likes to snuggle with his hoomans in it. In one split second there I just thought why is he looking really dark on this photo.
That is one hay-spoilt bun, Skyblue
Love Yohio’s colouring, reminds me of Rusty xxx And Bam looks so comfy on a lap and blanky
Chewie’s cake is amazing. Happy birthday bun
MinNinoJack, Jack & friend are adorable!
GJ, Rusty =( The hero that saved Jenny.
Pictures of the bun coming to me in a couple weeks!! I’m overly excited LOL.
I was told he is a tort, and that both his parents are torts. So I’m assuming a blue tort? I don’t know about bunny coat colors/genetics. From Dana Cole in Riverside, California.
wow what a bundle of fluff I’ve a bunny coming tomorrow for a bundate with one of my girls, so I’m sharing your excitement!
if all goes well there’ll pics tomorrow night
Oh my goodness, Fiona! What a cutie patootie!
Not sure if its OK to post a pic of a bunny I might be adopting as a husbun for Gina?
This is from the rescues page for him
Gina.Jenny- He is so cute! I hope your bundate goes wonderfully!
JG it’s perfectly ok to post a pic of Gina’s perhaps-husbun! Love his side-burns! I think Gina will be delighted
I really hope so, I’d fall for him if I were a single girl bun 28 hours til he calls, not that I’m counting down the hours, or anything
What do you think, part English spot, part lion-head?
Lionhead + English spot sounds very plausible
Today I took Yohio outside, he MUST get som UVB on him so he can produce vitamin D. I cleaned out the outdoors cage/run, but I haven’t scrubbed it and repainted it yet so it looks kind of sad. There’s nothing growing there yet. Three years ago he stayed in that hutch for a whole month, since then, nobunny has been there (but it’s been shut so no wild animals have had access.) He’s very cross with me now, he’s hiding under the bed (but wolfs down food). He only had to endure an hour outdoors.
The mysterious glass jar has water in it, we’ve not turned the water on yet, nights are still too cold and I couldn’t find a bottle to bring water in
PS It’s NOT bird-poop on the wooden crate, but I see now it looks like it. It’s paint stains. Yohio snapped back to his normal self a few hours later and we had a good cuddle before bed-time. Now munching under my desk.
The look on Yohio’s face – that is one NOT impressed bun.
Fun in the sun Podge is enjoying his first taste of home grown grass and strawberry leaves, and says ‘there’s no taste like home’
Runs are an improvisation, with four bunnies, needing three runs, plus the piggies in a fourth run, but they’ll do for now
Gina.Jenny, they look so happy! I set up a run for Chomondeley outside and brought him out, and he sat in his carrier the whole time… he hasn’t really experienced the outdoors before.
I’ve had guinea pigs who were scared out, but not a rabbit, though Gina and Jenny were a bit nervous the first few times this spring, even with Pippi out too. Podge loved being out and made it clear he did not want to come back indoors.
Spent the day bonding Gina and Podge, and given they’ve spent the day together with only a few scuffles, they are going to stay together overnight, with me camped out on the floor beside them. Both are playing hard to get, I think?
And here are Pippi and Jenny, having some hay after floor time

It wasn’t a lot, but the buns seemed very happy about it!
I know this is an old post, but it’s just reminded me that I need to harvest the seeds from the dandelion that flowered in our backyard a couple days ago. I really hope the seeds are still there!!!
Its still not fully five days since Podge came on a pre-adoption visit, and look
This is Gina’s favourite blanket too, so it must be love! She was honking at him earlier too lol
Edited to add, came down later, to find he’d swapped sides, and snuggled even closer in <3
Sooo wishing Chewie were not so determined to be an only child.
End of day five since Podge arrived and I think Gina is smitten it doesn’t come much better than this
I think I can sleep upstairs tonight
GJ, that is LOVE! So great to see!
Azerane, I hope you collected the seeds! From what I’ve seen on TV, you can’t bring live seeds into Aussie or I could send you like a ton of them come May =)
Q8, some buns just don’t want a friend. I have two buns that don’t. At least they don’t want to be friends with each other
I took Yohio outside yesterday for the second time. He was a lot more willing to explore this time. But he was not going to have his picture taken while he was doing it.
its impressive how expressive a bunny butt can be
GJ, nothing gets a point across quite like a bunny butt!

Thanks I was a bit enthusiastic and it hasn’t actually seeded yet. I remember that going to seed much quicker than this after flowering but I must not have been paying as much attention. You are correct, seeds and plant material can’t be brought into the country. And because dandelions are considered a weed it’s a very tough time trying to source dandelion seeds. This is the first plant I’ve found at our current rental so I want to try and grow some more.
Also that outdoor run looks great, lots of fun
Pippi seems to think Podge needs playtime supervision lol
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxjuenZVpCqPaGVaeXRBbzdGZXc/view?usp=sharing
Podge just looks like a chilled out dude !!! Easy to get on with anyone ! lol
Pippi says he does chilled out better than anybun else!
Pippi is so cute! Podge looks like he could need a bit of a lesson on how to properly use a tunnel
codyh, your pix are not showing up. Here’s a little guide to posting pictures: https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/144934/Default.aspx#467239
Here’s Yohio, in my bed, with a snack of dandelions and grass:
Oh Yohio… as decadent as a Roman aristocrat.
Yep, def a Roman aristobun, with attendant huumon slave.
Gina and Podge’s new kitten tree arrived today. I sprinkled a few pellets on, to temp them to explore. Gina had no hesitation, and was straight up on top of the little house. Podge waiting til the camers was away before running straight through the house like it was a little tunnel (one that doesn’t roll!)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxjuenZVpCqPaXNPVl9IQUhYZXc/view?usp=sharing
So cute! Wish I could find a tree here in Q8 that wasn’t taller than me. lol
All the best ones are way too tall to use as a rabbit tree here, but I’m pleased with this one. I think Podge is too
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxjuenZVpCqPMXZnVWJGc3FsWTQ/view?usp=sharing
Gina didn’t take that long before she decided to explore inside too, and then she stayed in the little house, for a snooze
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxjuenZVpCqPVDNuV21EM2lhdkU/view?usp=sharing
And with Gina settling down inside, Podge took his first hop up onto the roof
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bx…sp=sharing
Cuteness! Bunnies can be so intrepid.
As I was watching Podge, Chewie hopped to the far end of the sofa, took a running start the length of it, and launched himself like a cannonball off the other end, taking out the humidifier on his way to the rug. Where he did a binky and head toss. Circus clown showoff.
someone needs to come up with some kind of camera that can accurately judge when a bunny is about to do something cute, and switch itself on ready!
I agree! We totally need that!
There are motion activated cameras, that are used to catch wildlife…. can’t leave cameras rolling all night so when it senses motion it switches itself on.
Cleverrrrr
I would totally buy a cute bunny camera (or three)
