So, for the last few days my bunny has been shedding like crazy! Im located in Canada and spring/summer is closing in. Ive been brushing my bunny so when he grooms himself he doesnt get any fur inside his belly.. thing is when im brushing him more and more, hes starting to get a bald spot on his back.. So i looked this up that if he has any dry skin, or irritated skin(red color) that i should take him to the vet, but there doesnt seem to be any irritation. ALSO, hes eating, pooping, drinking and binkying around no problem. Just really worried if a bald spot is normal, or should i start freaking out and take him to the vet immediately?

        PLEASE HELP!

A healthy bunny may very well get bald spots from heavy shedding. It’s not uncommon and not a sign of sth wrong. What to look out for is mildew-like flakes (indicative of mites) and what you mentioned above, dry skin, irritated skin, etc. If you see none of that, and the fur starts to grow back on the bald patches, you’re fine. It can look very weird but it’s still normal.

Right now it doesn’t sound like something to be overly worried about. Keep an eye on it and watch out for the things bam mentioned. It should start to grow back within a 1-2 weeks. The skin will start to darken when the hair is about to come in.

My bunny gets a bald spot on his head during his big, yearly molt. He actually has one right now that’s about the size of my thumb. Haha.
