        Hello all,

To start today has been great! Lilith had her first play time outside in her “front yard” (a self built pen) and she loved it! I saw my first binky and she was just zooming back and forth. She hated the hardwood at first but once she got used to it she was just a exploring. Sadly I was not able to pet her but she did feel courageous enough to sniff all up and down me haha.

Today also marked my first day cleaning out the litter (its been about 3 days). I use Yesterday New’s and she seems to love it (I haven’t seen any stray poops in over 24 hours even ). So I went to clean it, more of a scoop out soiled litter and poops and then add in some fresh litter. At the end of the week I will likely do the white vinegar+water full clean. But, for the life of me I cannot tell soiled Yesterday’s News from fresh Yesterday’s News. I have no idea what litter she has urinated on or hasn’t urinated on, making cleaning especially difficult. Any tips for telling urinated litter from UNurinated litter apart? She hasn’t peed on the linoleum so I am assuming its all in the litter haha.

          Well, that’s interesting.
I will put in plug for pine pellet bedding here. It’s a whole lot cheaper than Y. News. and controls odor just fine. I start w/ a thin layer in the litter box, then I keep sprinkling fresh litter over the soiled stuff, then every few days clean the entire litter box. You can get it at Tractor Supply for about $6/40 pound bag. It doesn’t last as long as you’d think, but it’s a real benefit to your wallet.

So glad she got out for exercise and binkies. Being able to enjoy seeing the rabbit so happy, and having that be satisfying shows you are a true bunny lover!
Not sure if Lilith is spayed, but if she’s not, don’t be distressed if she returns to leaving gifts around. My guy still does, especially if breakfast is late, but it’s better than before he was neutered.

I’ve used Yesterday’s News in the past, but it’s been several years so I don’t really remember how it looked when wet, but I assume that the paper pellets would swell and disintegrate somewhat when they were peed on. The area of wet litter might also stick to the litter box. You could tilt the box both ways and see if the dry litter falls away from the wet litter.

With pine pellets or aspen pellets, it is very evident where the rabbit has peed. Those turn into fine sawdust when wet, and they will stick to the litter box when it’s tilted, so it’s easy to scoop out the wet areas daily.

It sounds like LIlith really enjoyed her outing today, and I’m sure it made you happy to see her happy.
