Annie’s babies all have homes now, except one, who we kept. We separated Annie and him last week, but kept their cages close so they could see each other. The last few days, she has been working on breaking out of her, succeeding last night and today. She just stays in that room, and leaves a trail of poops around the baby’s cage. He is 11 weeks old. This is unusual behavior for her. I was wondering if she could be having seperation anxiety or if him maturing is getting her upset. We have not had a chance to spay her and he is still a tad young.

        Thanks!

Gosh BM, I don’t know about bunnies….. but when my dog’s, both Sam and George parted with the last of their pup’s they were relieved! LOL!
They had enough! And maybe they were happy when someone came to the door, they left with a puppy and not them! Ha ha ha ha……
          I hope Roberta see’s this – she’ll know!
          Good luck BM!

            Hi BM,
Took me a little while to find this.
You will probably find it’s a little bit of both, all the babies have suddenly gone and she is getting used to being a free spirit once more. She will settle down though but she will be interested in Blackback although she probably wouldn’t give him a warm welcome back into the hutch if she is anything like Pandora was.
Panders took to being footloose again very quickly, when I was weaning I separated them but they had a shared play area. I let the kids out at the same time as Pandy for a while, they would stampede past her and take over her cage getting into everything, Pandy would get shirty about this and start grunting and stamping and trying to stop the kids destroying her place. It got so Pandora would come out to the sun room with me for a run and playtime whilst the kids rampaged through the playpen and both cages.

You can let them visit each other through the cage. We had to do this with a mama bunny we adopted. We kept one daughter and by 12 weeks mama was getting too friendly with her offspring.
She is probably thinking about having more babies.

Thanks everyone. She seems to have calmed down some. We moved Black back out of the room. She seems to be content now on her own.

It’s funny, when we got her, the shelter said she was a “mean bunny” and aggressive. Which she was a bit. But now she’s a big love bug and sweet as can be! She must have had pregnancy grumpies. So glad we gave her a chance.

That’s great BM, and yes – you and the hubby were wonderful to give her a second chance. Super HAPPY!
