Just got off the phone with my girlfriend and it looks like pepper might be getting put down, yesterday he looked like he was in pain curled up in a ball in the corner of his cage so we immediately took him to the vet. Vet said he had a blockage in his stomach that was causing him intestinal pain, sounds like GI stasis to me but we were sent home with medication and had to syringe feed him 11 times a day

as the next few hours passed he seemed to be getting better, wanting to run around more anyways, we continued tummy massages and could feel gurgling so we figured things were moving along

i had to leave so i came home at 1 am, at 7 am she called me and told me he was worse than before and looking like he was dry heaving and still no pops to be found. Vet said to immediately bring him in

^^that was going to be the post i was going to make but as i was typing it my girlfriend called me again on her way to the vet. well he flopped over stopped breathing and some liquid came out of his mouth…im going to guess he had a rupture of some sort internally. My girlfriend is a wreak, sobbing to me on the phone saying it was her fault even though i know it isn’t. It just amazed me how fast that happened

So sorry for your loss. Things do seem to happen so fast with bunnies since they hide illness from us so well.

Rabbits are pretty notorious for hiding ailment, but of course that doesn’t make it any easier. You and your girlfriend are in my thoughts.

I’m sorry for the loss. I’ll be thinking of you two. Find comfort in knowing that he was loved very much. I know death is a hard thing, but it never helps the matter to blame oneself. Hugs to you both.
