I think most people have heard about this by now, but it’s official – Luna and Teddy are going to be on TV!
I just thought I’d do a little thread so I can keep you all informed of what’s happening and let you all know when it’s going to be on etc.
The show is called ‘The Secret Life of Pets’ and it’s going to be on Channel 5 (In the UK).
The premise is to see what pets get up to when the owners aren’t around, so they’re using little hidden cameras and collar cameras etc. to see what pets get up to from a pet-point-of-view!
For us, filming started today! The guys we’re working with are very friendly and they seem interested in the buns.
Each family on the show is going to have a different story that they’re going to follow. For us, they’re looking at Luna and Teddy’s relationship and (hopefully) bonding process!
Today the guys were here for a few hours, talking to me and filming the bunnies. They filmed them both hopping around/eating/causing chaos and all that. They also filmed them together where of course they fought, and then I showed them stress bonding on the washing machine, where they cuddled. They asked about stress bonding and they seem pretty interested in the whole thing.
They also set up some little cameras around their pen to spy on them while I’m out.
They tried to do my interview but it was raining so that’s going to be another day. When we do it, I’m going to try and slip in a comment about how I get all my knowledge about bunnies from this cool forum…
So for now, bunnies and I are pretty exhausted! A long morning of trying to be entertaining and socialising has us wiped out!
YAY! I’m so excited for you ALL! I can’t wait to hear about EVERYTHING! Good for you Tessie.
Sorry, I have to go – I need to brag to everyone that I know famous bunnies! Lol…..
Yay!!! That is SO cool!
I want to watch!
What an awesome experience! I’m not in the UK so I’ll look out for it online. Let us know when it airs!
PBS just did a story on TTAS,,, that’s their 2nd tv appearance in 2 months
Thats great. Cant wait
I’m in the USA so I don’t think I’ll be able to watch.
Maybe you could find out if they also show it in the USA? good luck!
Well, it’s time for an update!
To be honest, the whole TV saga is really stressful
Basically, there’s all these people who have to be sorted out. Obviously the bunnies are my priority, and I’m trying to bond them.
I need to move home to my parents house this week, and they ideally need to be bonded by then.
Meanwhile the tv people want any bonding to be done on camera. They want us to go to another rescue who are gonna try and bond them for the camera, so if by some miracle they get bonded before they’ll be annoyed.
The rescue people are obviously busy, and they have all these questions about the bunnies, and they want to know like, what my set up is and all this stuff and are talking about doing a home check which really annoys me, like, dude, they’re my rabbits!
The rescue are really keen on the idea that if it doesn’t work, we swap one of my bunnies for one of theirs…. which I’m not really keen on!
Anyway so it’s all a bit of a stress to organise!
The plan at the moment is that the bunnies, the TV crew and I are going to the rescue on Wednesday and they’re gonna film and try to bond them. I’ll let you all know how it goes!
Wow, that is so cool Tessie! I hope it will at least be made available on YouTube. I would really like to see it. Sounds like they may have some high expectations though as far as what they would like to film goes. Hopefully they will get the shots they need.

Don’t let them talk you into this, I imagine they just don’t want to look like a failure on TV. They’ll deem one of them “unbondable” and replace it. They sound a bit out there anyway, doing a home check?! Like you said, they’re already yours. What would they do if you didn’t pass the home check (hypothetically)? Call Animal Control on you? Their attitude just seems pretty bizarre.
Anyway, good luck and keep a good eye on your buns at that crazy rescue!
That’s awesome!!!! Celebunnies!!!! I hope their will be a link online so we can watch!
I agree with Hazel. It’s a terrible idea, especially to broadcast that as an option to bonding adopted bunnies. You don’t want to send the message that if at first you don’t succeed, dump the bunny and get a new one.
This reminds me of work projects where decision by committee made it impossible to do anything quickly and well. Just bond your bunnies and do what’s best for you and them. If the TV people know how to bond, by all means let them give you advice. Otherwise, the lesson is that it’s not so easy, and that’s the message they are filming.
Any internet link to the show that we in the USA can watch?
Yes these things. The filming people have certain expectations and want things to look a certain way so the videos will all look just so. Thats why the home check. They may want to arrange it to what looks best for filming
Sort of like Dance Moms. The producers just show the few times they don’t get along and leave out the fun stuff when they are all getting along. They want certain look and certain things so they emphasize that. To make the show interesting. They probably give them a script to follow too.
But hey I am with you. This is YOUR home and YOUR bunnies. The crew and producer/director will just have to make concessions. There may be some things you can compromise on but whats important to you that you don’t want to compromise on well then dont.
I would like to see it once its ready for viewing. I am excited for you.
Oh I misread. It the rescue not the filming people. Heck no the rescue has no reason to do a home check. These are YOUR bunnies. These people crazy or what.
That would sure make me nervous. They are thinking of swapping bunnies if they can’t bond them. Whats wrong with these people. You stick up for yourself and your bunnies. Which I know you will. OR maybe forget the rescue. They do sound nutty. Be careful with these nutty people.
I understand your annoyance and being upset.
Thanks for all your support guys!
So today we went to the rescue, the lady was actually very nice, and she’s clearly passionate about bunny welfare which is great.
Shes got loads of bunny’s at her rescue, it was really cute (and sad) to see all the buns!
She let them run around the rescue for a while to let out some energy and now she’s got Luna and Teddy in a big pen. So far it’s going well, she sent me a picture which I’ll upload in a minute.
Feeling hopeful!
Tessie that sounds exciting! I hope it continues to go well!
Tessie – please ask the people doing the show if there’s any way those of us in the US can see it (broadcast on any US channel? Online?)?
I can’t imagine you swapping out either of those big beautiful bunnies, but if you ever did, I think I’d have to find a way to snatch that one up! Someone may have to knock me out to get me on a plane tho . . . ! Wouldn’t that be a sight . . . me and AndHenry scrapping on the floor at the airport over one of your bunnies!
Excuse me JR….. Tessie has to work out how we Aussie’s can see it first (remember – I asked first Tessie!) Lol….
And I won’t tell you again – Teddy is MINE!
And now that I know how BIG Luna is, I’m kicking myself for not stealing her tooooo! Bugga!
PS – I just put airport security in my speed dial JR and supplied them with your description – frantic bunny lady trying to steal MY oversized bunny!
LOL!! That’s OK, I’ll be *cuddling* Luna’s big self all the way back to the plane! We really should consider letting Tessie visit them sometime . . ., but only if she makes sure we get to see the show!
WE better see the show – otherwise Tessie is OUT!
LOL!!!
Don’t worry guys, I will definitely find out if you can watch it online! If not, I’ll film the TV
Here’s the picture she sent me:
Tessie that is too sweet! I just want to squeeze them! Teddy’s all flopped out . . . just think how busy Luna’s going to be when she can groom Teddy’s ears!
Keep the pictures coming!
OMG that huge ear – so cute.
Ahh that is a great picture! You have gorgeous rabbits.
Awwww….super precious!
Awww! Can it be? A Teddy and Luna snuggle!
Cuties!
She said yesterday “It appears they are falling in love”
Can’t believe it!
I’m so happy for you! They looks so happy there in that picture!
OMgoodness I have never seen a bunnies ear that big before. Wow. He is huge. I love it I love it. Big beautiful buns.
What a sweet picture! So the rescue isn’t trying to push another bun on you then, I take it.
Yeah, she’s not pushing that which is a relief!
She said his morning there’s been some humping so she’s keeping a close eye on them.
I am glad things are going well.
So we’re going to bring them home tomorrow! I’m so excited
I can’t believe after months and months of stress they’re finally bonded!
They’ve been living together all the time for the last week, so that counts as bonded right? I only ask because the lady says they don’t really snuggle each other?
Also, I’m unsure what to bring them home in…. I was going to just use one of the carriers (I still can’t believe they get to go together now!) but I’m worried it will smell and they’ll get territorial? Can I clean it with vinegar or something? I did have a go at cleaning it, but it’s fabric so hard to get rally clean and I just don’t want to risk anything. Another option would be to take a box or plastic tub to put them in, just to avoid the scent problem… What do you guys think?
Will they both fit in one fabric carrier and will the carrier handle the weight? I’d be afraid they would jump out of a plastic tub.
Can’t wait to hear how it goes once they’re home! Since you’re at your parents’ house, is everything neutral space so you won’t have to worry about any kind of transitioning back into each one’s claimed area?
This is so exciting!
I agree, so exciting!
Could you use a cardboard box and just fold the flaps down? It should keep them in but provide for easy acsess provided any squabbles happen in the car.
I thought of a box too, but the one we have would be pretty small for them…. but then again the carrier will be, too!
Hmmm… I don’t know what to do! I just don’t want to risk fighting in the car.
Decided to go with the carrier, which now reeks of vinegar! Haha
Hopefully this will do the trick. Next time I update they’ll be home!
Small is good. A little extra stress bonding can’t hurt. I think the carrier will be fine, especially since you cleaned it.
Mine have been bonded for years and they don’t snuggle each other very often. Not all bunny pairs are really affectionate. Hope all goes well on the trip home!
Are they home now? (waiting impatiently for news of the newlyweds as well as honeymoon pics!)
Clapping hands! I’m very excited!!! (and SUPER happy for you Tessie).
Waiting (very impatiently, ha ha ha!) for the update!
I have some pictures!
So we took them home and they’ve settled in really well. Teddy is a bit persistent with the humping, and he pulls her fur a bit, but I think it’s just the new space and he’ll hopefully get over it. They’re not very cuddly together, but who really cares as long as they’re not trying to kill each other.
The people at the rescue were nice and I just can’t believe they’re happy together! I’m so so so happy as you can all imagine. After months of stress and them hating each other, it’s all over! I think in the end all it took was a big completely neutral space. Amazing!
Filming took a looong time, it was interesting, we had to film everything I did like 3 times to get different angles, and there was a lot of ‘Okay that was great, but there’s a shadow in the way, so say that again’. It was tiring but fun, and it was interesting to see how this stuff is filmed. I just hope I don’t look like an idiot on TV!
Meanwhile we still have another day of filming to do, in a week’s time. They’ve got to film their final update about how they like each other now.
Now for what you all want – here they are! Like I say, they’re not exactly cuddly so far but this is still amazing:
You may also be wondering where they are! For now they are in the garage until we decide/persuade my parents where they should be living in the house. But don’t worry, it’s not forever and they have plenty of space. It’s just sad for me ’cause I don’t see them all the time.
How sweet! And look, they have a Teach N Treat. My buns have one, they are a bit too smart for it though.
Yeah, it took them about 10 seconds… I was a bit disappointed with it!
We had our final day of filming on Tuesday, so we’re all finished!
They were at our house for an hour or so, filming Loony and Teddy together and filming me saying ‘yeah, they’re friends, it’s amazing!’ Haha
They think it will be on in September, and I’ll find out if there’s a way you us guys can watch it. (If not, maybe I’ll film the TV screen or something…
It’s been a hectic journey, but totally worth it to have them be friends now.
Can’t wait to see it!!!!
I can’t wait to see it either!! I’m so happy they are bonded now!
+*/~*TONIGHT *~\*+
Hey guys,
The show is on tonight at 7:30 on Channel 5 (UK). Please please watch us if you get a chance! I will be recording it so everyone can see it in a couple of days time
That’s so great that everything worked out.
Has Teddy gotten any bigger? I’m sure he’s gigantic now.
Ahh! So excited! It’s on in about an hour for me, and I’m at work, so I am going to see if I can record it. Can’t wait!!!!
What channel would it be on in the us? I’m looking but can’t find anything
I don’t know if it will be available in the US, and if it is I wouldn’t know where to look!
But don’t worry, I’ll record it and put a link here in a couple of days so everyone can see it
He’s pretty big…. He’s always been quite a skinny boy though, so he doesn’t look all that huge. I’m told he’ll keep growing until he’s a year old though, so we’ll see!
I think you can get the channel if you change the country in your channel settings. You could try calling your provider. I don’t think I want to bother with trying to figure that out, so I am just going to watch online channel 5. (I can’t wait a few days!)
Damn, I missed it
I went out to get some supplies and didn’t get back till after 10pm
Tessie, does channel 5 have an on demandwebsite? I know there’s BBC iPlayer and 4OD but I’m not sure if there’s one for channel 5? If not I’ll Just have to watch it when you get the link up very excited!!
Found it. Correct, Tessie? http://www.channel5.com/shows/the-secret-life-of-pets/episodes/episode-6-485
Yes, that’s it! We’re at the end of the episode!
It won’t let me view it.
ok so I had to uhhh… circumvent the issue through not so legit means…. watching it now!
They are so cute! Loved the hidden camera… I can totally understand now how frustrating that whole ordeal had to be for you! I’m so glad they are happily bonded now!! Wooo superstars!
I tried to watch it but it told me “not available in your country.” What did you do MM?
Sent you a pm LEL
OMG!!! When do I get to see it? I’m desperate!!!
Sooo, I know that this is shamefully late, but for anyone who is still interested, here it is!
Here is the link to the channel 5 website, this is obviously the best version but I’m not sure if our international friends can watch it. We come on at the end, around the 14 minute mark:
http://www.channel5.com/shows/the-secret-life-of-pets/episodes/episode-6-485
And then I have a version that I’ve filmed off the laptop and then put together and put as a private video on youtube. This is obviously a much poorer quality, and I’m sorry about that but this way hopefully everyone can see it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0SmhTAGWrw&feature=youtu.be
Thanks Tessie! I loved seeing them in action! And ooohhh, I still love Teddy’s ears!
Thanks for posting that link of your show Tessie! I loved watching it. Your bunnies are gorgeous!
Yay! Today after work will be fun! Thanks Tessie!
I can’t wait to watch your show Tessie!
Aww, how cute! They are so adorable together. =)
I take it the show was trying to make it more dramatic for the viewers? I know you never would have gotten rid of either bunny.
I just watched it, I loved it! What a happy ending!
I can’t wait to watch it! I’ve been looking forward to watching it since your announcement.
LBJ – Yeah, that was one of the things they kept pushing on, they were like ‘Maybe say that you’ll have to give one up…’ I kept trying to avoid saying it, haha.
If you remember the rescue lady wanted me to give one of them up too?! But no, I wasn’t going to do that.
Another thing was they wanted me to say that I hadn’t realised they were fighting all the time, they wanted to show the footage of them fighting and have me be all surprised, which was pretty bizarre. I was like ‘but of course I know they fight..?’ haha, anyway I didn’t say that either
Only just seen this >_> I’m still baffled by the rescue wanting to do a home visit, unless they were pre-emptively assuming they’d have to swap one of your bunnies for one of theirs? O_o Glad the bonding went well and they’re buddies now though ^_^
I’m suprised by how short the show was. It was only 5 minutes?
The show was half an hour, our bit was just five minutes. But that five minutes took three days of filming, haha!
I was disappointed that the Channel 5 site said I couldn’t watch it, but then I realized that you posted the youtube link.
I love it! They look so cute together!
Oh yes, I do remember you talking about that. Hmm, do you think they were disappointed that it all worked out then?
LBJ – no no, I don’t think so, she was very nice, I guess she just didn’t have much hope for the situation to begin with, haha!
That was cute! I’m glad everything worked out between Theodore and Luna. I think the show wanted you say that you might have to give one up in order to have more drama.
What sweethearts! I loved the video you posted! So glad that they’re friends !!!
I’m glad all the bonding worked out between the two.
Ahhhhhhh, so sweet (I know, just a few months late!!!)
I’ve wondered about getting a mate for Zou, but for the moment she’s got the cat and dog for company. (I know they’re not rabbits, but she’s not lonely…. lol).
Vienna Blue, this thread is a bit too old and we ask members not to revive old threads. Feel absolutely free to start a new thread on the subject of getting a friend for your bun. I’m locking this thread now.
