So Chrome will go anywhere and everywhere but the dadgum box. I put some of his used litter from his cage in it, and I watch him closely so that when he does go I can put him in his box right away. Only problem is that I can never seem to catch him in the act of pooping to rush him to the box, and when I catch him about to pee and rush him to the box, he won’t go once he’s in it. I’ve moved the box a few times to the places he seems to poop the most, but it’s not really doing much at all. Help!

Moving to Behavior – that is the best spot for litter training.

How old is he and is he neutered yet?

Are the issues only when he is out of his cage for exercise time, or is he not using the box in the cage either?

He’s about 3 months, not neutered (yet), and I don’t have the box in the cage because it won’t fit well. Does training work better if the box is in the cage?

Yes, he needs to have a litter box in his cage always, and then a second litter box outside in his exercise area.

If the cage is not large enough for a litter box, the cage is probably not big enough. The minimum recommended size for a small bunny is 2×4 feet, but the bigger the better.

You don’t want any bedding or litter in the cage bottom, just in the litter box. Rabbits tend to go where the soft stuff is. Neutering when he’s old enough will also help.

Yup. Neutering will make life easier. I didn’t even try to train my guy till he was neutered, then they pretty much train themselves. If he’s using it at all that’s great. But don’t let it discourage you that he is hit and miss. He will be much more interested when he’s had surgery.
