He gets unlimited amount of hay.
I was giving some vegies everyday but ive stopped atm to see if it will stop excess

He has had a sprig of parsley each day tho.. n he has been getting 1 dose a day of critical care.. as during the day its been soo hot.. he only eats when its cool.. so thats a while not eating much

He doesnt get pallets as I had to take him to vet when he ate them his tummy was sludgy and he went ill on them

          So just inlimited hay atm

Could the critical care be causing it?

Hi bunbuns. We had a hot summer last year (in scotland, bizarre eh!?) And found that the buns loved having ceramic tiles to lie on. We washed a couple and stuck them out for them. They loved it. Also, we froze kale and herbs for a cooling treat. As for the bad poops, I think the critical care could be causing it but hopefully another member could confirm that.

Frozen kale? Someone suggested freezing dandelions for winter. Anyone hear of that? I’m about going broke keeping my buns in fresh veggies this winter. Found myself paying for dandelion greens at the store cuz they look so good

I’ve read that if buns eat their cecotropes because it is necessary for them to do so to get nutrients. Therefore if they are leaving their cecotropes alone then they are probably getting too much nutrients. I agree that you should probably cut back on the veggies that you are giving him. Especially since he is so small!
Good job for being watchful of your buns droppings though!

I would talk to a vet. Typically over production of cecotropes is due to a rich diet, but no veggies, no pellets, unlimited hay, and just a dose of Critical Care isn’t a rich diet. The fact that he’s not eating much is also a bad sign. He could also be leaving them because he’s unable to reach down there to eat them.

Rabbits will just eat the cecotropes if they need them and some rabbits just produce more than others – it’s really not a problem other than for the person who has to clean them up.
