We just got a 5 week old bunny last week, I think he is being more comfortable with us now since he will run, jump and do the so called ‘binky’ i think. ok , so my question is does bunnies play dead? because yesterday he would drop dead and won’t move but when we walked away he would jump up and then do it again when we are looking… he has been more active by 3rd day with us now. so just wondering if that’s anything i should be concerned with or it’s just him playing with us.
        thanks for any replies.

ps. he eats, drinks, poops and pees so I think that part should show he is healthy?

I believe what you are seeing is a bunny flop. It is scary the first time, but actually means he’s very comfortable and totally relaxed. After you know what it is, it can be pretty adorable. I love when I catch my guys in the act of flopping.

ok good, I just did some research and it does sound like what you have mentioned. Thank you so much for replying I feel much better knowing he’s not sick or anything.

I agree, sounds like a flop. Congrats on your new bunny!

Where did you get your bunny? 5 weeks is very young to be re-homed.

Watching my bunnies flop is hilarious. I love how they don’t just lie on their side, they sort of slap themselves down on the floor. It’s strange but adorable.

                    Thanks for all the replies
5 weeks is really too young to be re-homed? I got him from a breeder, she make sure they can be eating on their own for 2 weeks..
He is so cute especially when I come home and he knows, cuz he’ll be standing up looking waiting for us to feed him… lol…
He sometimes does this weird suddent jerk or super fast tapping with both front paws and then licks them… nothing is wrong with that is it?

Don’t worry! Nothing wrong there either! He is just cleaning his face. Bunnies have an ‘elastic’ anatomic structure, to reach everywhere and to lie down comfortably they have to be able to readjust their limbs. He is just getting his arms into a position that is comfortable to clean his face.
It sounds like a fast “pat paf pat pat pat”

And don’t worry about asking lots of questions! Were here to help and it’s better to ask than to worry the night “Is my Bunny Ok??”

I am a newer bunny owner too and I love when she flops and “boxes” with herself! (ie. gets ready to groom her face) Too cute! I agree that it was a little alarming until I did research and figured out what she was doing. I hope you are enjoying getting to know your buns personality. Mine is my first bunny and now I don’t know why I never had one! She is so expressive and her personality is a riot!

Exactly Kbana! my bun behaves really well other than pooping everywhere he goes… but that’s ok I just pick it up lol… but he doesn’t bite and fight to get off your hands… usually when I pick him up, he would be super calm and completely relaxed and fall asleep as I pat him and he would just dream or something cuz he would b moving his litle mouth and kicking his leg once a while… then wake up and become super hungry and active… lol.. everytime we let him out he would be jumping doing binky and stuff… and now in his cage he would do the flop and play with the toys i have in there for him
