I’ve had Rhosgobel for 2 days now, and she hasn’t even TOUCHED the pellets. She’s eaten 1 baby carrot, and about 2 full kale leaves…but she wont’ touch the broccoli, purple cabbage, dried fruit treats, or any other carrots. She DOES eat hay though (unlimited access). Since I live in Japan it’s hard to find anything other than timothy hay (at least, what I can READ on the bags…lo!), so I’m going to put an order through for some different hays so add variety to her diet. She will eat kale though. I’m going to pick up arugula and romaine next grocery trip, as well as some fresh herbs!

Any other suggestions, or do you think she’s doing fine as she is? Maybe since she’s still new here she’s still just trying to get comfortable?

Rabbits are VERY picky eaters, so I wouldn’t worry about her too much, try some other veggies and treats. My bunny won’t touch any fruits or certain herbs. She should be eating tons of hay. And Timothy hay is probably the best, when she’s older she can’t have much alfalfa

I’m not sure about the pellets though… Are they Timothy based? If she likes Timothy hay then she should be okay. Did she eat pellets before you got her? Because bunnies need gradual food changes. If the pellets are different than before that could be why

Its only been two days — shes probably a little stressed out! Its good shes eating hay — thats the most important thing! Keep trying other veggies if you can and let her get adjusted.

Yup, they’re the same pellets she was being fed at her foster home. I got her new pellets though that are hay based (I don’t know about the other kind she was being fed). She hasn’t touched either though.

She DID finally eat most of the red cabbage I put in there for her (1 leaf). I just want to make sure she’s getting enough nutrients. It looks like the foster home free fed her with everything (they put 1.5 cups of food in her bowl)…so I’m going to take it away and only give her pellets in the morning or evening along with her veggies, so that hay is the only thing she’s being free fed.

I would try greens – the leafy stuff. Many rabbits turn their noses up at typical “veggies” (things like broccoli, peppers, carrots, etc) but most will eat some sort of greens or herbs. Lettuce (not iceberg, but romaine, leaf, chicory, etc) are good to start and usually pretty cheap.

My girl snubbed vegetables at first. As she got past 7 months of age, she started to eat vegetables. I would feed her at least one new kind a week, and monitor poops. Some bunnies have sensitive tummies with certain vegetables

Romaine, Green Leaf, Red leaf are highly recommended and loved by bunnies. Cilantro, Parsley are good herbs that bunnies love too!

Thanks everyone! I tried raisins…she snubbed them. I went and bought a variety of greens…romaine hearts, cilantro, watercress, basil, thyme, sage, rosemary, and a green bell pepper.

I offered her a small variety (not everything) to see what she went for. She doesn’t care for basil…or thyme..or rosemary…but she went CRAZY for the cilantro. I’d say she ate about a cup (not all at once, spread out over 4 or 5 hours). We have a winner, yeah!

What did she think of the Romaine?

                        My buns love cilantro too.

She hasn’t tried it yet…I didn’t want to put EVERYTHING out there for her, at first. Now that I know she likes cilantro (and kale), I’ll make most of her salad out of that, and for the next couple of days I’ll introduce the others again

Lilly’s favorite veggies are cilantro and spinach
