I wasn’t really sure where to put this, it may belong in the lounge so feel free to move this if it’s in the wrong place!

I’ve mentioned before that I’m going to be moving at the beginning of February, which I wasn’t too worried about since Ruby is generally a super relaxed rabbit. BUT, to make a long story short I’m likely going to have to move super last minute like… this coming Tuesday, and then again with the original plan in February.

Will moving twice within 3 months be really stressful on a rabbit? She’s super curious and is a little explorer whenever she goes to new places, but I’m worried about her becoming more stressed or less happy because of not really knowing where her home is. She’ll still have her same cage and toys/playhouses at both places, and I’ll be around so she’ll be with familiar things and faces.

I can’t help but worry it might affect her too much   Any advice?

My advice would be to keep as much as you can the same for a bit: set up her area the exact way it is now. Keep the same towels, beds, toys, etc. that you have now, so she has familiar scents around her.

I think she’ll be just fine. Within a couple days, rabbits start to acclimate to their new spaces. So I don’t think there will be an issue.

One of my bunnies went through moving twice in about four months. I was worried as well, but they can be pretty adaptable. I would pack a blanket or two that smells like home, and having her toys and cage will help her feel at ease. For the first day or two she might act a bit different – Wesley was cautious and a bit bug-eyed the first day until he started to figure out how things worked. He is also a pretty confident little guy, which definitely helps. But even my far more reserved home-body Bluebell weathered one move with no problem. Good luck with your moves

Aw I’m glad to hear they adapt quickly I wouldn’t want to stress the little one.

On a different note – the first move is into a rental so I need to be really careful about the baseboards which are apparently the best chew toy ever. Is there a bitter apple spray or something similar that one of you would be able to recommend for me?

Ooh.. baseboards are always a problem..  I have had moderate success by spraying perfume on spots that the bunnies really like – usually corners.  A lot of people like to use vinegar.  It depends on the rabbit, but Wesley (my chewer) has never done any damage that could not be covered up by some white paint, and I’ve been renting for the past couple years.  And keep in mind that even if there’s some real nasty damage, you can work wonders with wood epoxy, sandpaper, and paint (handy link here).

I either put 2x4s in front of baseboards (safe to chew, hard for them to move) or nic cubes in front of baseboards. Sprays wear off and could be toxic to bunny if they were stubborn and chewed anyway. Good luck on your move. I agree she’ll be fine and long as she has similar stuff with her.
