I decided to make a little blog type post because I have a lot of stuff I wanted to share with you (including pictures). So let the blog begin!
Moving day! June 9
Moving day was extremely stressful! But, what can you expect on moving day? I went to my current vet and bought some critical care just encase Lulu got stasis after the move since she has been so sensitive lately. Lucky, Both bunnies did great! They ate and drank after they moved in and I think I spotted mocha eating some hay in the car. Here is a picture of their new setup. I am using my old condo and an xpen with a tarp underneath. For those of you who don’t know, we are living with my grandparents until our house is built ( they live right next door). So they are in their basement.
Sorry for the mess. I cleaned just last night, but you know bunnies…..
And here is my organization. Pretty organized except for the junk on top.
Disaster strikes! June 13
So a few days after we moved in, my grandma ended up in the hospital. She is the healthiest person her age I know! Just a day or two before we were out cutting and staking wood! She ended up being fine and it wasn’t even a TRUE hart attack because it didn’t cause any damage and the Docs. don’t even know why it happened. But because of all of this we had a lot of the family here and things got pretty crazy. I felt awful during that time because I didn’t have as much time as I wished with the bunnies. But their will always be bumps in the road and I am sure they were ok. Do you guys ever have times you can’t spend as much time as you wish with your buns?
Fresh Timothy! Yum! June 19
Someone a little less then a mile down the road grows timothy hay and we always have some timothy grass at the end of our driveway! I went down the driveway and cut some today! I double washed it before I gave it to the bunnies to get any bugs off. They LOVED it! I had fed them some last year too!
Love this one of Mocha!
Lulabelle!
More posts to come! Please feel free to comment!
One question. Most days I can’t let them outside because it is to hot and they are not allowed out of their cage at my grandparents. Will that be ok? I every day or at least every other day they get to run around in a 8×4 pen while I clean. Will one day kill them? I am not used to non-free range rabbits!
It’s ok, one day or even a couple days won’t hurt them any to be in their condo
oh they’ll be just fine-try not to take the glares or stomps to heart They’ll be fine with a few days of rest
Glad your grandma is ok!!!
That second pix is so adorable I had to show my father. He’s never seen bonded bunnies.
Also, don’t worry if you have another commitment for a day or even several due to something important going on. I am glad your grandmother is better. Bunnies are really very adaptable when it comes to having a day or two of basic needs met, period. Your buns get exercise from that amazing habitat (climbing) and if they’re fed on time with enough litter to stay clean, they will be fine. Sometimes it even helps you to worry less by having them demonstrate that they came through fine after a couple of days of “lack of attention”. You can live your life more naturally, including them, but not adding to your other stress. You will have them for years, remember, so moving and crisis are going to come up periodically. Just get an emergency back up plan in place for any time you may not be able to get to them (I know I can board my bunny at my vet in a crisis or during a trip for example. Some people have family/friends who will feed them.) and don’t worry. They will try to guilt trip you into extra treats, but what else is new?
I’m glad your grandma is ok! They look very happy in their temporary set up.
Thanks guys! She is 100% better and can’t wait to get back to cutting and stacking wood!
Dr. Disaster!?
We moved into the same town as Dr. Fosters and Smiths retail store which means you can get ANYTHING for FREE shipping! Not sure if this is good, or bad. Haha I spent half of my birthday money from my grandparents their on the teach n treat game! So far Mocha figured out level one while Lulu just climbed all over me looking for the easy way out! Haha! We stopped at goodwill and I picked up some baby toys for them! I felt a little goofy but hey, they were only 99c for each pack. I got a whole bunch of toys for only $4!
These are the toys that I have already put in their pen. So far they are a BIG hit! Lulu took the links off of the xpen and through the cups around like crazy!
Rattle toys!
While cleaning them, I got water inside of some of the rattle toys! Any idea how to get it out? I had them sitting in the sun and almost got all the water out, but now the sun went away as we are having a sever thunderstorm warning ( which may I add the cats are in the camper and there is supposed to be 65mph wind! I hope they are ok!). I was wondering if rice works like it does for phones?
Flopping Bun Bun!
I came downstairs to find this! He is my flopper boy
He was resting head on the ramp! Silly boy!
Then he woke up and got mad at me haha!
I hope you like the pictures!
BTW! If you have a baby rattle with water in it, put it in rice and it takes it right out! Haha
They look very happy! Very nice toys! I will keep the rice idea in mind
That is an awesome condo! Someday I’ll get crafty and make something like that lucky buns! P.S. Is that a holland lop? I just got one about a month ago!
Yup! Mocha is a Holland Lop! My dad is pretty handy and made it for me!
They obviously know they are loved and secure even during all of these changes. Great job!
mocha and lulu look sooooo cute together and where do u think that i can get nic grids in california??? P.S. big fan of ur you tube channel keep up the good work!
I love the disapproval they are giving you in the picture after you woke them up! Too cute!
Thanks guys!
floppy, you can get NIC grid cubes at any Bed, Bath & Beyond, which is a national chain store I think. Might also be carried at Walmart. You want the gray ones with the smaller holes in each piece. For a while Target had them in colors, but some pieces had 3″ openings that were dangerous for little heads to stick through.
Mocha, the toys are adorable. Didn’t know about rice. I’m thinking you could turn a blow dryer on them from a distance to get some water evaporated off.
Our family is famous for getting phones wet and rice has always done the trick! Glad it worked with the rattles too!
I got NICs at Sears.
Shopko sells them too!
I’m so glad the move is going well and that your grandma is better! That must’ve been so scary. Love all the pics and the new toys are great.
@floppy-I found my NIC cubes at K-Mart in the “do it yourself” section.
The Big Escape!
The bunnies went out in their safe new outdoor pen for awhile this morning. I cleaned their condo while they were out there and then brought them back inside. When I am cleaning, I leave their pen unlocked so it is easy to get in and out and I forgot to lock it because before I put the bunnies back I brushed them. It was closed but not latched. I hung out upstairs on the computer for quite some time when I hear Lulu playing with her baby rattle that is connected onto the xpen. I sneak downstairs to see if I could watch her playing with it and I realize that the xpen is open! I quickly search every where for Mocha in the condo! He was gone! I frantically look around and check my grandpas office and calling his name and shaking the treat jar (but I didn’t think it would do any good because I think he is part deaf). Then I new where he was. Somewhere in between all the boxes! Since this is a storage room there are boxes and bins EVERYWHERE stacked up as tall as me! I left the room to call my mom for some help (she was sleeping in the camper) And when I came back he was sitting in the middle of a row of boxes. I shake the treat jar hold out a banana and he slowly walks closer, then he freaks out, runs to the end of the room jumps in between some boxes and foot flicking and thumping all the way. My mom was with me by this point (half asleep) and trying to unstack boxes to reach him. I could see him but I couldn’t reach him because of a whole bunch of boxes filled with paper were in the way and were to heavy to move. After Mocha running back and forth I finally grabbed him. He is safely back in his cage but extremely scared of me! He is acting like a scared guinea pig ( you know where they are flinching at every movement I make) and he would not eat his hay cube. I sure hope he is just scared and didn’t hurt himself some how during that. My Mom is pretty ticked off at me right now. I woke her up right when she fell asleep and is saying how irresponsible I am and how my bunnies shouldn’t even have the pen. Ahh.
I gave them their veggies to try and get him to eat but he is just staring outside of the xpen and it looks as if he has been chewing it it as it is moved. I am soo worried about him.
Just give him some time. Wait a few hours. If he doesn’t eat check his stools. If you find anything you think might be wrong I would bring him to the vet.
And BTW I hate when parents act like that :/
My mom always thinks I’m over board with my buns. But whatever…
(((VIBES TO MOCHA)))
He is much better now. For a few days he just looked out side of the pen and bit the bars.
I was gone this weekend and when I came back I gave them lots of treats because I accidently spilled them on the floor. Oops! Just am about to go downstairs and clean them out. Messy bunnies. I normally clean them out every day but I was gone…
haha i guess pretty soon mocha will want a twin sized bed with extra big pillows

Hi, Mocha. I think this post is done now, right? I will lock it since the messy bunnies have moved on to bigger and sillier problems to create for you now.
