My bunny likes to jump on the bed when I am reading at night. He jumps around and likes to get his nose rubbed.

He has started making this odd “buzzing” noise, when he comes up near my head.   It does not sound like purring (but I have never had a cat), not does it sound like a grinding. The best way I can describe it is the sound an electrical current makes though a wire.

He is not distressed, and only makes the noise when he comes up near my face. Is it a happy noise?

Can you feel his jaw? He could be tooth purring. They don’t make a purr sound like a cat. They grind their teeth when they are content/happy and sometimes that can be heard. Lolli tooth purrs all the time when I’m snuggling with her but I can usually only hear it if she really clatters her teeth. That’s my best guess as to the sound he’s making.

Squirrel makes little buzzing noises too. Different from his tooth purrs. He usually makes them when he is happily bouncing around me or my hubby when we are playing with him.

I’m exhausted so my head is not clear; So I can’t provide when I’ve heard it definitely (like who and when) but I’m with the others-it’s a happy noise
Cute idea-can you grab a video of your bunny making the noise?

My bunny does this, too. She does it when she is grooming me, or nestled up beside me for pets. It does sound a bit mechanical, like a teeny tiny motorcycle engine that’s idling. Lol. I have to be right up next to her to hear it.

The low buzz hmmm. Like hmmmm….hmmmmm…..hmmmm….hmmm. ?? Jack does this all the time. Many times males do this when they want to mate. But Jack does it not only when he wants to mate Vivian, but now he does it when he wants pets too since Vivian never lets him mount her. .

Peppy does too – it’s very soft and I mostly hear it when I’m in the floor with her. I hum back hoping she’ll know I’m happy too.
