So is anyone doing any spring cleaning?
Are you one of those people who collects stuff?
Of are you a perpetual declutterer?
Do you make any changes in your home to go from winter to spring (change decorations, pillows, rugs, those type of things)?
March is mud month. I wish for brown rugs this time of year. The bright sun brings out the nose prints on my windows… I clean them, my dogs sniff to see what I did and so it is a losing battle. I will bring out the dogs’ kiddy pool for the patio and set up a shady area for the rabbits… my manure heap in the yard has to be moved soon… I need to declutter my basement… (I do live with a collector)
Have to find my bug screens for the windows and wash my walls… yes, spring cleaning is on!
Ugh don’t remind me.. I sooo need to do a good cleaning. theres dust and hay everywhere We still haven’t unpacked some stuff too, and we’ve been in this apartment for almost a year.. and we still need to buy new desks so we CAN unpack.. *grumble* Hate this time of year.
For me, I need to do spring cleaning whether it’s spring yet or not. >.< I collect and it's a real problem I've been working hard to rid myself of. I think it will be easier now that the kids are grown and at least one of them is away from home most of the year. Most of the things collected in the house are from their childhood that they couldn't bear to part with over the years.
My allergies and back usually total me now after just a few hours’ work. Which makes me cranky because I can’t get it all done at once….which makes me procrastinate worse. I used to be able to get a whole house spotless enough to eat off of in one day….now, not so much.
Baby steps…I keep telling myself. I’m so OCD that I feel like things that are being sold or given away need to be all together…like sets of things…and when I can’t find them all, it makes me want to put it off.
Speaking of OCD…I just realized someone whom I’ve not seen lately for the picture thread…Adelaide! ^_^ *runs off*
I don’t have ADD…really, I just…OH LOOK A BUNNY RABBIT! *disappears*
I am in a definate “change” mode. Though it’s not spring here (we’re into Autumn now but temps this week are in the 30’s [over 86F]). I’m trying to clean and declutter but that just usually means moving crap from one area to another really. Also itching to change stuff around home, painting etc but there’s so many unfinished areas already. I do find cleaning up and decluttering therapeutic provided I stick to it. Right now, I think I probably need to get away from the mess and enjoy this weather.
It’s definitely Spring-like where I live. I’ve been cleaning my front courtyard and “backyard” the past few weekends. I’ve been decluttering here as well and hopefully can get this manageable as well.
I’ve been diligently decluttering for the past 3 years now and am getting my stuff to a more manageable amount. The clutter and extra stuff was just stressing me out and was not healthy. Now if I can just get my husband to stop being such a packrat!
I do change out some pillow covers each season and my table runner from a dark to a lighter color – yes, I know that the extra pillow cases is “clutter” but I enjoy the change. The runner I just turn from one side to the other. I think it makes a difference just with those few changes since I would have pillows and a table runner anyway.

Let me know how you accomplish this. I need to know.
Funny thing is that he admits he is! I did finally get him to let me sell the stove he has the garage to the lady who cleans my house – I’m actually just going to give it to her and pay him the $40 he wants for it. Heck, to me it’s worth it!
If this was in my house, mine would buy it back from her, for $80! LOL
Men admitting things… haha… I have to be suspicious. It feels good when they do, though. I imagine they know we like it.
All I have to do is watch a few episodes of “Hoarders” and I’m cleaning out closets big time.
I’m not really into spring cleaning – I just kind of clean when I get the motivation or when something starts to bother me. I do try to keep clutter down and I’d much rather pick up clutter than actually clean things. I guess picking up clutter gives an immediate result, while dusting only makes things look marginally better for about 4 days until it gets dusty again 😛
However, we’re having people over to watch the basketball games on Saturday, so I need to do some cleaning this week! I’m pretty sure my friends don’t want to eat in a dining room covered in cardboard bits and bunny hair.
I don’t enjoy cleaning but the Spring Cleaning I do like because it means spring is coming.
I really don’t enjoy cleaning either but I do love having a clean house.
I wish we could afford a cleaning lady! I guess we could technically afford it, but our place is only 1100sqft – no reason we can’t keep it clean. I do love love love having a clean house!
Really? A cleaning lady wouldn’t do as good a job as you, since it wouldn’t be their home. I like to take care of my place myself.
Well, I don’t do a very good job cleaning, so I’m sure a cleaning lady could do a better job 😀 I kind of do a quick job, but I’m not very good with the details. I don’t mind a quick vacuum, but I wouldn’t mind paying someone to clean the bathrooms, dust the blinds, etc.
DH, on the other hand, spent 30 minutes dusting just the tv stand the other day. He’s so detail oriented that it takes him 1.5 hours to do one bathroom! In that time, I can vacuum and dust the rest of the house *and* clean the kitchen!
I suppose someone for hire might do a better job; or even so good a job that they really ‘clean you out’.
Haha. We had a cleaning lady when I was a kid – it was an older woman who came every 2 weeks. She loooooved cleaning, and didn’t really need the money, but did it for fun. She was awesome, and we could totally trust her. She started having back problems when I was about 12 and had to quit, so my mom put me to work instead 😛
I wouldn’t worry too much about them stealing. All of the maid service companies have insurance and if my huge tv suddenly disappears it wouldn’t be hard to figure out who took it. Otherwise we don’t really have anything worth stealing.
I wasn’t thinking of large objects, as much as I was thinking of credit info etc.
–It’s nice to hear about a positive experience, though.
For myself, I have learnt that sticky fingers like to take jobs that grant them access into people’s homes.
I can’t stand DUST!!
When I moved in with my dad, I got the master bedroom that my cousin and her boyfriend had. There was DUST ON THE BLINDS AND CURTAINS!!!!!!!! EW!!!!!!!! And dog hair in the BATHROOOOOM!!!!!
I was/AM SO GROSSED OUT!!
I broke out the Antibacterial Wipes, Towels, and the VACUUM and went crazy!! My allergies acted up so bad until I finished it all!!
Ugh…
Petzy, I didn’t think about that! If we ever get a cleaning lady, I’ll definitely be locking up all of our papers.
Lately I feel like its Spring cleaning every day with Lainey’s shedding…Gulliver too, but not as much. I like everything in it’s place, but my brother isn’t too much like that & is a clutter man. I constantly have a pile on the edge of the counter after gathering everything he brings out every day…along with 5-6 pairs of reading glasses. Makes me CRAZY! Seems like lately I’ve been doing drawers, closets, pantries, etc. & think I should get going on the surface stuff so all my work can be seen! I like to thouroughly clean things, so its either all or nothing with me .

My mom owns a cleanign business, and she has to be the most honest person I knpow. Everyone she cleans for love her.. and let me tell you, no one can clean like that woman.
I am sorry then Monkey bun for having said this. I guess, it is wrong to generalize people.
oh MonkeyBun, Petzy wasn’t saying that everyone in the business would do that, I believe she just meant that if a dishonest person is looking to run a scam that involved getting personal information like you might find around the house, that it would be an occupation that would give them access.
There are honest and dishonest people in every job, it’s just that the bad ones get all the publicity. I wish it were different.
The one in the news right now? Fake Census takers, I may let Lola answer the door.
Yeah I know, my mom complains about how people have made a house cleaner into a bad name these days… heh
I would love to see the expression on someone face if I asked to hire them, but said they needed to bring a rake and shovel. (hey, as much for my son’s room as the bunnies!)
That is what I meant. I was thinking of the many housekeepers my mother hired when we were growing up. They bought clothing for themselves with the grocery money my mother gave them for us, talked long-distance with their bf’s overseas on our phone line, and when called upon, they just quit.
I remember one that cleaned our entire house with one and the same cloth… eeeeeeeeeeww!
That sounds like some of the babysitters we used to have growing up!
LOL, Kralspace, I think you should let Lola answer the door :~) and by the way, do we have to include our rabbits on the census forms? I just got mine yesterday.
I think I will Sarita, “Here, hold the sweet bunny while I fill this out…..”” bbbwwwaaaaa boob bite!
Our little town has been hit with a rash of phony salesmen lately, the police usually spot them and run them off. Fake Electric co., phone co., even one guy pretending to check your inside cable connection so his ‘helper’ could help himself while he keeps the owner busy. We all take care of our older neighbors (I think I is one now) and walk over when we see a stranger at their houses just to ‘chat’.
One time we moved, I remember, and we hired a movong co. they helped pack everything. Some things we never saw again, but unpacking we found many boxes in our new place that weren’t ours, they had mostly wooden boards in them.
Petzy maybe you should hire that moving company to get rid of that stuff that’s cluttering up your house, just tell your SO that they are just moving it into storage :~)
I would get space AND wood… what a deal!
–We just need a garage. My boyfriend isn’t so bad, he is just into metal parts, machines, — guy stuff.
Yeah, I call that guy clutter, it’s no different from girl clutter other than it’s metal car parts and tools and stuff.
Can you build some kind of storage shed on your property to store it there?
Oh, sure, we”d love that. It’s the $ right now. He is doing a Master’s and it is a money pit.
Kralspace- Same here! It gets so anyoing & creeps me out big time. I already HATE being home alone but having to deal with the fake sales people on top of that… ugh!
I really need to clean out my room. It’s not like there’s trash or stuff like that. I just have clothes, books, old scripts, pictures & everything else laying everywhere! I’m probably going to clean it today… so I say haha
I’m lucky we don’t get the fake salespeople! But mostly I just don’t answer the door. Haha. I can also see our door out the window, so I peek out if I’m not expecting someone and don’t answer if they don’t have a uniform. It’s as much from laziness as carefulness 😛
I suppose thats one good thing about apartments.. usually no salespeople are allowed
I started the Big Clean.
I began with my filthy dog, the one that loves skunks. No point cleaning house when the engine of pollution lives amongst you.
She hates any type of body care… but I told her that I was inspired by Sarita…
wet dog wants in… to shake off water all over the house…which led to mopping floors on my part…
It is worth it: clean dogs have privileges…
dog says: “thanks, Sarita! tztztztztztztz!”
Heehee. What are those little stuffed animal dogs (they are stuffed aren’t they)? They look just like her.
I just hope she doesn’t get mad at me and chase me with one of those big Flintstone bones she likes.
you know, she is such a sweetheart, she does bring her bones to people to offer them up. It is the strangest thing any dog of mine ever did. She drops bones in people’ s laps. Can you imagine the look on people’s faces?
Her stuffies used to be mine, they are wearing my deceased dogs’ old tags. I collect fawn dog plushies with black faces. I had these before my boyfriend got me Puma; ever since I can remember I have always loved the fawns with the black mask. It is said in my family that even my grandmother, whom I never met, kept fawn dogs with black faces.
Petzy- Puma is so cute! He looks like the dog off of “Little People Big World”
Thanks! She is the apple of my eye.
Puma is adorable! I also have a soft spot for fawn doggies with black faces 😀
Ugh…Spring…cleaning…But I don’t start “Spring Cleaning” until it’s actually Spring so I’m not lifting a finger until Sunday! I usually make a list of everything that needs cleaning and organizing, the list gets enormous, and then I do one room at a time. I’m pretty sure there is no one on the planet who hates cleaning as much as I do. I wish I could be like my sister, the perfect Martha Stewart homemaker type…lol..she makes me sick
i’m starting my spring cleaning this weekend. my boyfriend is going to be gone for ten days on a business trip and i can never really clean when he’s around. as soon as i clean he seems to junk up the place again. i’m gonna go through EVERYTHING while he’s gone and organize the whole house. i’m oddly excited about it.. hehe.. i love having things organized.
I like having stuff organized too, I just having to do the organizing part! lol
spring cleaning came weekend b4 last. Housing was coming for inspections. Yikes. Glad we passed.
Puma what an appropriate name for that mastiff
Bunnytowne, did you get Lionpanda back home yet?
