What are your thoughts on each of these networking sites?
Do you have one, both, or neither?
Pros and cons of each site, what do you like/dislike about each?
I am very knowledgable about MySpace, but not Facebook. Is Facebook easy to use, what can you do on it that is similar to MySpace, what is different?
I have a MySpace that I use pretty regularly, and a Facebook that I have never done ANYTHING with. I am considering setting up my Facebook, but I’m wondering if I should even bother, or is it basically the same thing as Myspace, but more “grown-up”? Is it redundant to have two? Many of my friends use both sites, but I’ve been seeing an increased number making an “exodus” to Facebook and some are even closing their MySpace accounts.
My friends will update and do things from their cell phones on Facebook, but I don’t have (or want) internet on my phone, so that is not an option for me.
I’m curious to hear your thoughts.
Also, if you want to add me as a friend on MySpace, feel free. Just make a note that you’re from BinkyBunny and who you are on here if that’s not obvious.
Here is my dinky little Facebook too if you’re interested… lol! http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=549615484&v=wall&viewas=549615484
I got on Facebook only after everyone said I should do it. It’s a great way to keep in touch with people far away. But if you aren’t used to it, it’s kind of confusing. I’m not a huge fan, but being that I have a lot of long distance relationships, I do it… reluctantly.
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home
here’s mine if anyone cares. I have a few family pics on there, a profile and some other junk. I need to update it with more pics.
I’ve got a myspace account, I have no idea why. I have a facebook account that I’m on every day. Myspace you can customize so that it reflects your personality, which is kind of the good and the bad. Nice to be able to do it, but when you have to wade through pages of fuschia backgrounds with flashing lime green glittery text on it, well it makes me want to scream.
To me facebook is definitely more “adult” (as in mature, not x-rated) than myspace. I think the only reason I have the myspace account is so that I can view pictures on other people’s profiles since you have to be logged in to do that.
– Annette
I’m on Facebook and I like it quite a bit. It seems fairly easy but I’m not on Myspace though so I cannot compare it.
Here facebook is all the rage and myspace is lame. However Dave is very internet savvy and says most american’s use myspace and most canadians use facebook (In canada really only bands use myspace)
I use facebook. I can connect with old friends-new friends I just met, bunny volunteers-I created groups for both of my shetlers and post updates on there. I can keep in touch with fifteen seconds of time once every couple of months with old friends. Give gifts etc. I love it. I never did have a myspace, and I’ve checked some people out on it and I can’t quite figure it out well enough to see anything.
I’m gonna add you Beka!
Ruffles-I can’t add you! just gives me your home page!
I have both a MySpace and a Facebook. However, I haven’t been on my myspace account in months. I am on Facebook all the time. It is very different. I don’t get into all they games. I use it as a way to stay connected to friends, family, college friends, and even high school friends. I post a lot of pictures of my family on there because I have a lot of family that uses it. Facebook can be confusing. Especially when they decide to change format. It does take some getting used to, but I like it better. Mainly because it connects me with people I wouldn’t normally be connected with.
-sigh- I mean it gives me my homepage
I check both of them but I’m more of a facebook person. http://www.myspace.com/hotrodhoney  http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=502634180  Just make sure you tell me who you are when ya add me, I know everyone from their bunny names hehe!
I have both but I don’t really use facebook all that much I prefer myspace except currently 90% of my emails are for a different myspace app everyday lol
I had a MySpace first, but now I never go on MySpace, and I’m on Facebook constantly. (I can get it and post from my phone. Can’t do that with Binky Bunny, which is how I get so behind! I wish there was a BB Mobile site…sigh…) I pretty much agree with Annette. MySpace is pretty, but it takes forever for pages to load because of all the graphics.
I think they’ve been adding functions to MySpace to make it work more like Facebook, but it seems to me that Facebook is more driven by what you post about yourself. Whatever you do, all of your friends are informed about it. When I was on MySpace, you had to go to each of your friends’ pages to see what they were up to, which I just didn’t have time to keep up with. Facebook can be a bit cluttered, especially since the new format change. But it is the only way I can keep in touch with friends I don’t see every day, and is VERY good at it!
I think everybody over the age of 18 is fleeing MySpace and going over to Facebook. I didn’t initially want to, and only did it because all of my friends were. And now I’ve found more old friends on Facebook than I ever did on MySpace.
I have never used either – I’m such a hermit.
Every once in a while some one ask me if I’m on Facebook – I have thought about it so, I’m interested to hear what y’all have to say about the 2 sites.
I joined Facebook this year when my workplace set up a Facebook page and wanted any of us to link to it. So my coworkers use it a lot to post our events to group members at once.
Then I discovered that all 4 nieces and nephews use it, and I suddenly knew what was happening in their lives. It’s been fun dropping them occasional notes.
I don’t even think I created a MySpace page – if I did it’s not been recently. I try to check Facebook almost every day. But I keep it less personal since everyone at work is connected to it. Not the fun, personal page of college kid users, who I think started it. I do use it to post informative message about bunnies, such as linking to Make Mine Chocolate, House Rabbit Society, etc.
What is Tweeter? I hear it’s becoming popular, but frankly with the time I spend here, on Facebook, and other sites, I just am not interested in yet another social network.
(Oh, and LinkedIn is best professionally, I think.)

Hehe Twitter, is pretty much the status thing on facebook. You just say what’s on your mind. I don’t really get it to be honest, joined once but didn’t know anyone that was on it, so I deleted it.
I’m not on Twitter, and I absolutely hate it. I hate the concept of it. It’s all based on basically 1 sentence of information at a time. Like a whole network just based on texting. Hey I’m heading to starbucks for coffee. I’m in line at starbucks. I’m ordering my coffee. They put too much foam on my coffee. I’m sitting down to drink my coffe…
RabbitPam, on Facebook you can set up groups for contacts, and control which groups have access to the things you post. Your status message I believe is visible to everyone, as is (I think) what’s on your wall. I think. You might be able to control that. But notes and photos that you post you can definitely control which groups can see it, so you can post things that only your family group can see and things that only your work group can see.

I’ve heard of twitter, but other than my husband, I don’t know anyone else on it. He doesn’t like twitter either. I’ll stick to facebook.
OH my I have none of the above. OR below or whereever.
by the way I accidentally deleted all my pics on hp photosmart. Hubby got me the printer I can put my camera card in it etc.
the hardest thing that takes hours is trying to get the pics to photobucket or snapfish. I had some good pics of Cotton I just downloaded and zap everything and I mean everything is gone.
This facebook myspace stuff can I directly download my stuff there.? Maybe that would help
My dumb printer asks me 3 questions…. share ……..email …….or groups. I put in snapfish but when I hit group I get nothing no hand or hourglass nothing.
Maybe this new stuff would help. Anyone?

ok maybe this works now. not sure how to do a lot of tech-y things these days. I actually MET my husband online more than 10 years ago (when it was still creepy) and technology zoomed by me so fast I have a hard time keeping up.
I have a twitter account because I thought I’d get in front of the “coolest thing”, but honestly it’s stupid as heck. All it is is status updates. Twitter is very strange.
i have a myspace account that i havent checked in months. it seems that all i get there are add requests from bands. facebook i am on daily. i love it. it takes a bit of getting used to to learn how to navigate but imho it’s worth the effort since its a great way to keep in touch with friends and family. i’ve gotten in touch with friends from highschool i haven’t spoken to in years and stay in better touch with family thats overseas. and i love the games. i play online scrablle (wordscraper) with my mom everyday and love the sudokus too.
feel free to add me as a friend too… of course mention you’re from bb so i know who you are too
http://www.facebook.com/s.php?k=100…p;ref=name
I have Facebook, MySpace and Twitter account for BinkyBunny.
http://www.myspace.com/binkybunny
http://www.twitter.com/binkybunny
With facebook – i don’t know the url but if you type in “Jack Binkybunny-Rabbit” you’ll find it.
When I first tried twitter I also hated it. Couldn’t figure the thing out. I think my first comment was something like I am very lost, I don’t get this! But then I began to really like it. People seem to like to know what’s going on with Jack or the site, and I also get notifs from rabbit lovers and rescues about what is going on at that moment.
And with Facebook, I was lost at first eventually figured it out. It’s definitely not as fancy pants as MySpace. (though with myspace – in the beginning, it had a much harder user interface, and I remember having a few MySpace meltdowns over goofy code problems and glitches!
As far as personal accounts go, I only use Facebook for that and I reserve that for family, closer friends, and for reconnecting with old friends. I will always keep that one rather small. When I first got on it, I was on it all the time reconnecting, but now I barely get on there.
The only thing I don’t really do much is all the gifts, tests, quizzes that are sent between people.
Wow, thanks guys! I had to work all afternoon/evening yesterday so I wasn’t able to get back on to see what you all had to say, but i have increased my Facebook friends by quite a bit over a day!
Pam… I ignored your friend request. :o/ I was clicking down my list of requests and my mouse shifted and I hit ignore by accident… Sorry… I sent another request to you, so don’t think I did it on purpose!
So you can’t make backgrounds and stuff on FB? I like having a background (tasteful = not fuschia and lime glitery… LOL!) b/c I think it makes it pretty, but I really only update my background, 2 or 3 times a year, so I guess it’s not a big deal, and I understand it being qicker to load…
I agree, FB is kind of confusing to me, but in general I don’t like having to get used to new formats (I take new BB updates esp. hard. Harder than I rightfully should… ;o)
I think I’ll get the hang if it tho once I figure out where everything is. This has really been helpful! I love getting your opinions on stuff! Thanks guys!

Right…no backgrounds for FB. I do understand, but I wish we could at least have just a choice to have a background color.

I’ve taken these updates hard too! I think part of it is they can be so glitchy at first (especially this last one) and we haven’t been able to get everything fixed very quickly! Fonts, some of our mod tools messed up, etc, etc. BOO! Hiss! Oh wait….I’m boo hissing myself. Not good.
HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, nothing against you guys! They did that on my Dead forum too (we actually changed HOSTS and they “rewrote” the site, so the ENTIRE site was 100% different, and that was so hard to get used to.) I get really used to sites so that I can almost navigate them with my eyes closed, and then the smallest little change will throw me off. I think this just means I spend too much time online… ;o)
I am really starting to enjoy FB now.
i’ve had software updates that left me in tears because of how different the interface was. even still… imho updates are 100% neccessary to stay current and fresh. its really nice when they can be done in stages though so it allows for slow adjustment. just like what bb is doing!
BUMP!
I am hopelessly addicted to Facebook now. If there are any BB emergencies you can just drop me a line on FB, b/c that’s where you’ll find me! :o)
I just figured out yesterday that I can update my status on Facebook (or send pics from my phone to my facebook) thru my regular text messaging… without having cell phone internet access… I am shocked. I am somewhat out of touch technologically (I JUST got a cell phone for xmas after not having one for about 5 years!) and it’s weird b/c I grew up in this information age, I am only 25.
I am pleased, and it seriously rocks so much more than MySpace!
I do not LIKE myspace. I do not LIKE facebook. I do not LIKE twitter…Sam I am…
If I get hooked on any of those sites I will blame all of you.
They are… addicting…
Damn – now I am going to have to check out FaceBook.
It’s all of y’all’s fault!
Beka,
I noticed your new toy is Facebook! Typical day: 5 notes from Beka, 1 from niece, 6 comments from Beka, 1 from nephew, 27 posts from Beka, 1 from work…LOL
Where did you mention who else on BB is on Facebook? I would love to add some of your friends from here to my list. Would you please recommend me to them? Thanks Beka. (and btw, I can’t believe how cute your son is. Growing up fast.)
ok, if I make a profile will you guys friend me?
Of course TARM! RabbitPam I’m friends with Beka if you want to friend me; I’m Megan
Facebook is so addicting! I’m on there all the time…*stands up* “Hello, I’m Meg and I’m addicted to facebook and Binky Bunny”
ok, i reactivated an account I had for five minutes once. Now what?
This is my profile: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1501639#/profile.php?id=502634180&v=wall&viewas=502634180
Click add as friend on the side
I’m on facebook and myspace. I have seriously been thinking about deleting the myspace account. I really don’t like it. Facebook on the other hand, I love. Im on it at least once each day but usually more. 🙂
OK, done
Me too.
TARM, if you can become friends with me via Megan or Beka that would be great.
Wow I’ve gained so many friends in the past week!
ok, requested rabbitpam
who else?
If anyone is interested, here is my facebook info. There’s several pictures of my baby boy on it.
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=1643981437&ref=profile
I don’t have a myspace, but I really like facebook!! My one complaint it that I always feel like I’m being watched, because any of your friends can see what you’re doing and everything you say. Other than that I like how people can stay in touch! If you guys would like to friend me go ahead:
http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=1117735224&ref=profile
Just make sure to include that you’re from BB and what your username is.

I thought I saw something in the settings that allowed you to mark some things private, only to be seen by certain people. I may be wrong because just when I started getting the hang of Facebook they changed it again. I really liked the option where you could keep something up, but reduce it to one line. Now it’s just Hide, Delete, or leave as is. Takes up much more space.
I don’t really care for having my network be both work and personal simultaneously. Oh well.
dang, I have to go to bed
I already broke my facebook page.
EDIT 4 hours later: Never mind! I fixed it!
Hey TARM, I got a PM asking me if I had Facebook, but I have no idea where it came from (said Kristie on it, so I know that’s you) but since I don’t know where else to answer, I’ll do it here.
Actually I don’t use either Myspace or Facebook, but I was thinking of making a Bunspace profile. Does anyone here have any tips for getting started on that site?
Are you all going to desert me here for Facebook?
*lonely jerseygirl pokes around on bb.com looking for folks to post replies too…* *then just ends up replying to herself…* Oh wait! I already do that!
Aw Jerz! *hugs* I’m here! Gotta pop out every hour or so for my son to study for a test tomorrow, but otherwise I’ve been haunting the Abbie & Rain thread like everybun else! xD
*Hugs MM* So will you be my new BB? (best friend / not Binky Bunny, nor Bunny Berry)
Bunny Berry? rofl! Never heard that one!
Sure! And I’ll get one of the bunnies to help with the berries and the binkies! ^_^
TARM… I sent you some friend recommendations of other BB’ers. I tried to send to Pam, but I could not find your recommend friend link…
I can’t get on facebook from work, I’ll have to check that out when I get home. I don’t like the navigation at all. Gr.
” thought I saw something in the settings that allowed you to mark some things private”
Yup! I was going to help-been on Facebook for a loooong time
For privacy-you can turn up or down your privacy in your settings. Default when I first started was low and basically anyone can punch in your email address or name and see your whole profile! So turn those settings up.
The interenet is NOT as anonymous as it seems and you always want to be careful on there. Some examples of facebook being dangerous (besides completely addicting Beka LOL ) are:
-People have put their whole address under info(do NOT do that- it shows up!) and then posted status updates like “going to blah blah for blah length of time” and come home robbed blind. Keep your address off-don’t even enter it.
-Girls who’s profiles are ‘public’ (Can be viewed without being your friend) -have been stalked-using the ‘status’ updates-to find out where they are! In one case the guy ‘friended’ her friends so she would think he was some sort of mutual friend, then started showing up when the girls were out (finding out where they were going from their status’s). After a long time they realized no one knew him and he was stalking her…
So keep your address/phone number OFF and turn your privacy settings up-you can turn them up or customize them for each friend (so certain friends cannot see certain things)
AND for those of you with professional careers-MANY people have been fired or not hired because of facebook. Your employers are checking your profiles when they can (AND shelters are too!! You’d be surprised how much I find out about people from the public profiles when we are screening them!) -if you’re a professional MAKE SURE your privacy is turned up!! People have been fired for posting rude things about work, trade secrets or drunk photographs! AND after interviews human resources is scoping your public profile!
Don’t let me scare you off though-FB is sooo fun and awesome for staying connected.
Yipes! Fired?
Yes!! I think it was bad stuff…but they found out using facebook… *off to find news story*
Oh, ok, so as long as I stick to bunny related content I’m good…lol
I’ve divided up all of my friends so I can control who can see what…not that I have THAT much to hide!
JerseyGirl, I still wish you’d get on FB!
I am bringing back to life this article because I wanted to add people to my facebook.
I think mine is: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/profile.php?id=656652814 (my profile has a pic of a bunny in a bubble bath lol)
And I also have a page for FUN4BUNNIES if you would like to become a FAN!
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=656652814#!/pages/Middletown-OH/FUN4BUNNIES/111136672229740
Hey Y’all,
I actually joined FaceBook. But, true to my hermit nature – I’m hardly ever on it. I just post bunny photos!
I have to admit I was pretty psyched when my 19 year old nephew “friended” me. He goes to University of Texas – just like I did. His posts are hilarious!
I did just “friend” FUN4BUNNIES though! They look like great toys
I’m on facebook MySpace bugged me, had to get rid of my account there. I’m always on facebook, I never actually close the page lol.
Total blast from the past! Why did this get dug up… lol! It’s hard to believe that I’ve only been on Facebook for a year. Feels like I’ve been on it for-e-ver…. Now i”m rarely NOT on it!
I left FB for awhile and then just joined back recently. Its amazing how many people are now on there and how many bunnies are now showing up with pages just like they were on myspace. I know there is a squirrel on there that has thousands of friends! lol
M&M will have a facebook page sometime, when I get unlazied and do it
I post pics of my buns from time to time, but FB is my thing, not the buns. There are other outlets for making pages for your buns, like Bunspace.
Hi, Hedi, I just sent you a friend request. You’ll recognize Samantha in my pix.
I was getting tired of FB after a while, when my entire office and the solicited membership for work was getting connected to me, but then I got onto Farmville….
As many of you know, I have been playing FV ever since. I discreetly removed many of those business contacts, with the reason that I use it for more personal stuff like family and friends, don’t post anything I wouldn’t want a coworker to ever see, and bore my poor friends with all my FV posts. Like now, when I am trying to finish a dumb Maison house that I can’t remove, can’t sell, and can’t get all the pieces for. So FV neighbors here, forgive me for the barrage of requests for old bricks, windows and shingles. You can send one back to me when you get my gift, and I promise I will make it up to you.
I have also separated my Facebook friends into Bunnies, Farmville Neighbors, and Private. That way, I only show my FV posts to some of you and don’t bore everyone else. If there’s a bunny in your Avatar, you’re on the Bunny list!
Do people still use Myspace?
Both Monkey and Moose have facebook pages now, if people need neighbours for anything
