I am really really tired since I’ve been on the road for the last 12 hours so if this is incoherent and rambling I apologize.
I have an “acquaintance” at school who has a friend who got this boy about 2 weeks ago. Things happened aka normal bunny behavior happened and she decided she didn’t want him anymore.
She wanted to either give him to my acquaintance or give him to a less than ummm hmm can’t put it nicely so lets just say a place where things don’t usually end well for bunnies. The person she wanted to give him to knows about rabbits but said he would try to find him a home instead of the other option.
He contacted me to try to help and I tried directing his owner to a rescue but she was having none of it.
Anyone who knows me knows that when it comes to the wellbeing of animals I am a complete pushover. Which is why my house is like a pet drop off station. Most receive the care they need and are sent to foster or adopted homes. But every now and then one sticks around with me. So of course I wasn’t going to let him end up where he was going to end up.
I am not totally ready for another rabbit and the guilt of my rabbits deaths still weigh heavy on me. But he is the sweetest rabbit ever and he likes to flop over in your lap.
I was on my way home from doing a transport for my local dog/cat shelter when I got a text from his owner who pretty much said get him now or…
So I made a detour and scooped his big ole butt up and he went to the vet along with the rest of the animals. He is 10-12 weeks old and already bigger than Gypsy! He is in great shape and some tests were done to make sure he doesn’t have something Gypsy can catch. For now he is in a quarantine area.
On to the pictures! He is an English Lop. He doesn’t have a name because I refuse to call him “Kraken”.
I only got 2 pictures since he was a little stressed from the crazy long car ride.
Him in the carrier in the quarantine room. He wasn’t totally sure about me. Lol.
=DDD
Basset-bunny!
He’s so adorable! He looks like a long-eared Shmoo!
So glad he’s with you and not somewhere unspeakable!
Congrats Sonn! He’s beautiful! He’s so lucky to have found you. Looking forward to the name and the bonding stories!
He is super adorable. He’s so big! I think Gypsy knows something is different she is giving me serious bunny butt.
Any idea how much he weighs? I’m trying to imagine his size!
He weighs 3.62 lbs. Gypsy weighs 2.8 lbs. He is mostly super long and has a giant head.
Congrats!!!
he’s beautiful. I love his long ears
Awww! Totally just wanna snuggle him!!!
Sonn, you should put in a name request with BB’s very own bunny name Master! I’m sure LBJ would LOVE to help you out. Hehe
Those ears!!!! Beautiful!
Oh, no! Don’t get LBJ and AH going! LOL!
Don’t think I’m going anywhere near the name game — I couldn’t get past Flopsy when I saw the pic so I’m useless! Those ears are just precious!
So adorable! Hmm… I like the name Sherlock for him. So I will enter that name into the voting.
I’m going with the name Ears
Hmmm, I’m going to enter the name Kite. It looks like a good wind would send him sailing!
I love his ears. It will be interesting to find out how he does with nail clippings to keep his ears from getting torn.
Lol I am horrible with names I don’t know how many cats I have had/fostered that end up being named Kitty or Cat. But I eventually get there somehow.
I like Sherlock I think I will add it to the list… Which consists of Sherlock.
Hehe Ears! I don’t think I could name him ears since that is my dogs key term to run and hide because they are about to get theirs cleaned.
Now the list consists of Kite and Sherlock.
Fievel! He looks like a Fievel.
Ooooh!! LBJ! The theme song from American Tail: Fievel Goes West (song is Somewhere Out There) is mine and hubby’s “song”.
Sonn — if you’ve never heard that song before you should google it and listen to it. You just might have the perfect bunny name!
I’m jumping in with a vote for Fievel (although Sherlock is cute too). Fievel and Gypsy sounds better to me!
He is adorable! I like the name Fievel for him as well!
Gorrrrrgeous! I’m very partial to his colouration of course. ; )
So you will be keeping him right? Right?!!
Mmm, I think Marmaduke could be good name for him. Duke for short?
Oooh, such lovely ears!
My wife refuses to believe Mr Roger’s ears are short for a rabbit – I’ll have to show her these pictures!
Woohoo Team Fievel! =D
JR – Oh yes, the song from the movie is great!
Oh, wow! Stunning! How could anyone not want him! He looks like a total doll.
I definitely know Fievel and the song. I used to go around singing it s a kid.
Yes Jersey I am keeping him! Lol. He is entirely too sweet for his own good.
LPT I will never understand how people can get a pet claim to love it and throw it away.
I’ve added Fievel and Marmaduke to the list. I have a few names so trying them out to see which one fits.
I took a couple of pics of him in my old bedroom now guest room aka where my dogs sleep 99% of the time. Gypsy is currently not allowed in there after shredding a mattress when I left the room for 2 seconds. Lol.
My dog checking out the new bun. He wasn’t impressed.
He’s beautiful and regal, like a “Prince” or a “King”…..I would add either prince or king before whatever you decide!
Sir Lance-a-lop! Or Casanova! Look at that smolder!
Look at those ears! Definitely a Fievel! It’s okay Sonn, say it out loud. You’ll see it’s the perfect fit.
Congrats Sonn! He is so cute, I am in love with his ears!
I’m with CT on Sir Lance-a-lop. Although we all know LBJ will get her way in the end..
Fell, Huttser, Khaz; Those are names I’m suggesting.
But I like Sherlock too.
I would so name him Flash, after the Basset from Dukes of Hazard Beautiful bunny!
I’ve always wondered . . . What to english lops do with their ears to keep from stepping on them when they zoom and binky?
I just always kind of assumed their ears caught wind pretty easy while they were bouncing around and have this kind of cartoony image of the ears trailing behind them like capes! lol
Gypsy and Lance Go Sir Lance-a-lop!
He doesn’t avoid stepping on his ears. He fell on his face more than once doing binkies last night. Lol.
I have a list! This is combo from here and friends.
Squishy
Teddy
Mango
Ripley
Cannoli
Rumple
Oliver
Fievel
Duke
Alfie
Magellan
Alfred
Grubb
Sherlock
I don’t think my friend Lance would like if I named my rabbit Lance. LOL!
Out of your list I like Oliver and Rumple.
But I still like Khaz. =p
I can’t change my profile. BB said they are fixing the bug in the system. =(
GO TEAM FIEVEL! WOOHOO!!!!
Team Sir Lance-a-Lop!
Another vote for Oliver.
I have a love hate relationship with naming new pets. I am so glad I don’t have to think of a name for a child he/she would probably be named Boy/Girl!
My list has shortened.
Rumple
Oliver
Fievel
Alfie
I’m jumping in with Fievel!
Oliver.
Oilver. Or Sir Lancelop
Oliver is a cat. =p
Fievel may have been a mouse, but the big ears are very fitting. I’m still on Team Fievel!
I named him…………………………………… Oliver
You know like the cat.
LBJ is not going to be happy.
Since LBJ’s going to call him Fievel anyway, can we call him Ollie for short?
Lol sure. As with most of my pets he will probably rarely be called by his actual name. Gypsy is called Lou 99% of the time or Gypsy-Lou and I have no idea why or where it came from. My youngest dog is named Ziggy but he doesn’t even come to that anymore because I have called him Pig for so long!
I get the Gypsy Lou thing, but where did Pig come from?!
Yay, team Oliver wins!
JR– maybe because ZIG and PIG rhyme?
Lol no not because it rhymes. I call him Pig because even though he gets a restricted amount of food and is vigorously exercised he is round like a pig. Plus if I let him he would eat 24/7. It is so bad that there are child locks on my bottom cabinets because he found out how to nose them open and my trash cans have latch lids! So he is my Pig.
I can’t push Lance-a-lop too much now that it’s been decided… But I can still say he’s a Sir!
SIR Oliver! Or Prince Ollie! lol
No!!!!!!! Fievel Fievel Fievel Fievel Fievel Fievel Fievel!!!!!!
Mwhahahahahahahahaha!
Prince Ollie!
Sonn, have you ever seen Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure? When you said you call Ziggy, Pig, I immediately thought of the scene where Napoleon finishes the giant ice cream and these dorky ice cream workers come out of nowhere going “eat the pig! Eat the pig! Ziggy Ziggy Ziggy pig!” Lol
Oliver is a lovely name.

I love that movie! I completely forgot about that scene. Well that just makes his name all the better. Lol.

No!!!!!!! Fievel Fievel Fievel Fievel Fievel Fievel Fievel!!!!!!Mwhahahahahahahahaha!
Oliver, Ollie, Sir Oliver, Prince Ollie choose one, snuggle with it, accept it, love it. Lol
Never!
C’mon LBJ. You can compromise. Maybe Sonn wouldn’t mind if you call him Olliefievel?!
Now now LBJ I don’t think that was one of the options given. It’ll only sting for a second one you accept defeat.
(Sees smoke coming from LBJ’s ears all the way here in Virginia)
Sonn, I don’t think that word is in LBJ’s vocabulary!
Sonn — I think more pics (lots!) would really help us in accepting our new bunny’s name.
I like Ollie for short. I call my pets by nicknames most of the time. Take Usagi’s name for instance I cant call him his whole name all the time. Its Mr. Rabbit (Usagi) Bunny Bun Buns. So I call him Usagi or Usagi sama. I call Kilala La La or La La Buns a lot.
It’s okay JR, FIEVEL and I know the truth.

I second this motion.
Yes, we need more pics of “Prince Ollie!”

Did you get a new bunny LBJ? Cause the only bunny in this thread is Oliver.
—————————————
I am planning to take some more pics this weekend provided I don’t drown in homework.
Impatiently waiting to see more pics with big floppy Ollie ears . . . .
You mean big floppy Fievel ears, JR.
Sonn, yep, I got a new bunny alright. He’s pictured on the first page of this thread. Hehehehehe!
Nope say it with me OLIVER. O-L-I-V-E-R.
I am planning to take more pictures of him and Gypsy this evening.
I know they’re not bonded yet, but I’m picturing how anybun bonded with a lop invariably ends up with one of the lop’s ears over it kindof like the lop is putting its arm around the other bun except its the lop’s ear. Just imagine Oliver’s ear up over Gypsy’s shoulder! Getting cute overload just thinking about it!
Gypsy will always be cozy warm!
If you want I can come over and you can bond Oliver to me. I want lop snuggles!
Well I had planned to take pictures last night but my power went out and I couldn’t see. Lol.
No excuse. Camera has a flash.
Lol yes excuse as in I didn’t want to die trying to find the cage doors since I have no flashlight and no working flashlight on my phone.
You don’t have a flashlight? You need to go out right now and get a flashlight. Everybody should have a flashlight! Wait, if you couldn’t see the cage doors because you have no flashlight, then you also couldn’t see to find bunny treats. You should pick up extra bunny treats when you go to the store to get a flashlight and store the treats in strategic spots that you can get to even in the dark. Maybe you should get extra flashlights and store them with the bunny treats. That way, even without power, you can find the bunny treats, a flashlight so you can find the cage doors and the camera, and take pics of the bunnies so that the bunnies and BBers will all be happy. Definitely a plan.
Wow, JR, that escalated rather quickly. Lol
Yes, yes! But you need to have TWO bags of treats next to the flashlight. And you need to label them so you know which bag belongs to which bunny. You can just do an initial. Since it’s dark though, you’ll want a big F and a big G so you can tell them apart easily.
LBJ, I didn’t know his name was Folliver! Lol
Don’t be silly BM, you know what his name is. And see, it works out perfectly because you wouldn’t mistake a G for an O in low lighting.
I’m late to the post.
Congrats on the new bunny Sonn!
What a gorgeous boy! I love English Lops.
MD, If you’re late I’m positively truant! lmao!
Sonn, I cannot express how happy I am for you that Oliver has come to stay with you. I so need to get in here more often! 0_0
Congratulations, to both you and Oliver…he has landed on his feet with you. Lucky bunny!
(Ahem…you realize we are going to need tons of pix of this guy, right??)
OLIVER!!! what a cute name! Congrats on picking.
