Finally! Our time has come… Ash is scheduled for the big “snip snip” tomorrow.  I’ve been counting down the days and now that it’s here I’m SO nervous.  I mean, I got thru Hunny’s spay so I know that I’ll get thru this but he’s still my baby, ya know –

Welp lil’ man made it thru surgery no problem & woke up with a hearty appetite… and he’s pooing like a champ, lol. He was pretty mad at me when I picked him up tho… just looked at me with one of those “if looks could kill” looks but now that we’ve been home for a few hours he loves me again. He came out & explored for a bit… gave Hunny some smootches thru the divider & is chillaxing now… hopefully he’ll stay in good spirits when the pain med wears off…

Thanks again everyone… he seems to be his same ol’ self this morning eating, pooing and out and about (I’m not letting him jump tho) and doesn’t seem to be in any pain, although the doc did say the med she gave him should last till about 10 this morning…

Except can anyone tell me what it should look like down there?? Cause yesterday when I first looked it seemed to be just skin kinda glued down & I could see the incision on the right one and it was flatish but this morning it’s still flat on the right side but the left one still looks like a normal but hairless sac… even before his surgery they left one looked bigger then the right but idk it looks wierd.

@ Peppy – Heehee I knew someone would catch that

Poobah’s looked like you described. Actually they looked swollen but that went down. As long as nothing was oozing and/or bleeding and the swelling subsided after a day, the doc told us we were good to go! They sleep on a white fleece bed, so it was a good way of monitoring too. If the pad had pinkish on it, I knew to check the incision.

I found that dangling some lettuce or something up was a good way to look without making him angry!

It’s normal that in the first couple of days for the sacs to be swollen and they can look like there is still a testicle in there. No need to worry, unless you hit the end of the week and they are hot and still really swollen. A little bit of blood along the incision is normal as well, just watch for fresh blood or any oozing.

In my experience, by the end of the week the sacs will look deflated (just a flap of loose skin) and the incision line will be healed enough that it’s hard to find.
