I know ? I just feel for them they want to be together so badly. I moved her crate right next to his xpen so that they can be together more. Since I did that they are both much calmer. I was cuddling with Mochi this morning while Amelia was out running and she hopped up next to us on the couch and properly went back to binking. Sleep…[Read more]

  • If he is all matted it’s best just to cut him down. I’ve had angoras for years so all I do is deal with tons of fluff ? Mats hurt they pull on the skin, and brushing pulls them more. Use a metal comb slide it under the mat and then with scissor cut it off. Do it in a number of small sessions and give plenty of treats. Your bun my look choppy…[Read more]

  • Jersey girl you are right! My satin is 5.5 lbs and she eats about 3/4 cup of pellets each day and is skinny. She also gets unlimited hay, usually Timothy but sometimes a medowgrass clover mix. She is almost 8 months and we have already gotten about 4 ounces of wool from her

  • We have had Mochi for nearly a week a now. He and Amelia have been allowed to meet through cage walls or xpen walls only. They have kissed each other’s foreheads and Mochi loves to spray Amelia. His neuter appointment is next month. Anyways I was drinking my coffee and the two had flopped out together and Mochi was grooming Amelia. Super…[Read more]

  • The protein level is not about wool block it’s about wool production, so how their hair grows and how their body uses the neutrients it’s provided. I got my first angora back in ’96. For angoras they have to have that higher protein to stay healthy, if you drop their protein, especially during the first year their muscles do not form properly.…[Read more]

  • Spraying can happen for lots of reasons but they typically involve marking territory. Being somewhere new may add to his urges. Spraying is also part of courtship, so is circling and honking. I cant say if it is a one time type thing or if he just figured out how to do it. I have an intact male at the moment and he has sprayed our other rabbit…[Read more]

  • My angoras have never cared for oxbow. Mine are on Sherwood adult complete and they love it, I’m in the states and i dont think it’s available much outside of them. Remember that angoras need a higher percentage of protein then other breeds due to their wool production. If they dont have adequate they will not build or maintain proper muscle mass

Thank you! I thought it might be hormonal, he’s 6 months old and we are just waiting for his neuter appointment, just shy of a month from now. I’m really hoping that there’s a cancellation and we can go in sooner

Posted By Jessica on 4/10/2017 2:53 PM Shelters are often very picky, often it’s all with good intentions but as an adoptive parent it can be beyond frustrating. I just added a second bun to our household. I did a lot o reading before hand and found out bonding an adult to a baby is very difficult. Our girl is 7 months old and we found a boy who is a month younger. Once he is neutered, and healed up we will begin the bonding process.

  • Thanks guys! He is turning into a very sweet boy. He and Amelia desperately want to meet, he was just so upset he couldn’t get to groom her face when she flopped out in her cage while he was out. He eventually gave up and just flopped next to her outside the cage. He gets to visit the vet tomorrow and hopefully the vet can move him up in the…[Read more]

  • It sounds like it could be play. Amelia has watched us play the push game with our 4lb dog, we gently push him and he slides on the hard word floors and bounces back at us while mouthing hands, and has decided this is a fun game. So we push her chest and sides and she bounces back at us then has to zoom around us and binki, then comes running…[Read more]

  • They are very closely monitored when they are greeting through cages, I’m usually with in arms reach or at least the same room. Poor Mochi was so beat up on by his litter mate, I watched her bite him three times through their cages in a little over an hour. I will start switching blankets and litter tonight. Right now I’m waiting on the xpen…[Read more]

  • My angora gained weight quite quickly in the first few months and then had been holding steady since she hit 6 months. At 10 weeks she was 2.25lbs, 16 weeks 3.75 then at 6months she was 5.5lb and has held steady there over the last month.
